I have stage four cancer – there will be no cure, but death isn’t necessarily imminent: this is how it feels to live in the long middle When you are cured, the world cheers; when you are dying, it mourns. But when you are simply maintaining, the world is at a loss

"In a culture that fetishises the loud “bounce-back”, choosing to live gently, attentively and on one’s own terms is an act of quiet defiance." www.theguardian.com/society/2026...

It really pains me that, after more than a decade of Bannon and Farage et al, there's not a more strategic approach to media on the left. Independent media is fantastic but not enough, and the sad truth now is that there's a straight line from posting to power. It's ridiculous but true.

Excitied to start the day at @coopfutures.bsky.social event #PowerToThePeople at such a crucial moment in time. Looking forward to the conversation we will be having.

I’m seeing a big shift of the conversations that would usually happen on Twitter now happening on LinkedIn. I haven’t made the shift there as I don’t want to be only defined by my career path or the people I know (or know me) but it is getting to the point that I feel I *need* to be there.

One of the things I think got lost with Ye Olde Twitter is that, although it had a relatively small user base compared w/other social-media sites, there were lots of people there who wouldn't bump into one another anywhere else, and you didn't have to surrender yourself to algorithmic funnelling.

It’s taken a while for people in power to recognise the growing strength of the @greenparty.org.uk . But now that it’s become evident, we need to be prepared to all the possible insidious ways that the currents powers will try to discredit it.

The greatest victory of yesterday’s results is that of #Hope over #Fear. It is the proof that people in the UK haven’t given up on accepting the status quo and are prepared to stand up and take action to build a better future.

Quite rare to see a chart that says quite so overtly that no one involved has the slightest clue what’s happening here

Is AI making work more intense? Using agents appears to increase the number of hours worked and the exhausting nature of tasks

unbelievably good from @jburnmurdoch.ft.com @sarahoconnorft.ft.com on the intensification of (knowledge) work under AI
www.ft.com/content/9c6a...

It reminds me a bit of when the Internet arrived, that sense of a cornucopia of content, an infinite bookstore, a neverending toread list. 1/

I’m in Milan to visit family. Apparently you can only pay with Visa for anything related to the #olympics as it’s the official sponsor. How ridiculous is that! #DigitalCurrencies

We have two dominant visions for digital tech: one from major corporations that maximizes profit at any cost, and another based on cyberlibertarian ideals that assumes you must code to participate in society.

We need another: where the public sector builds and funds tech for the broad public good.

🤔You want your government to be popular?

💡Why not try doing something that's popular with the public.

Most of us want to see public ownership across a range of public services.

It was true at the last general election. It's true now.
