Scrap Ofwat, says major report, as author warns water bills will rise by 30% in five years - live updates Sir Jon Cunliffe's report into the water sector in England and Wales makes 88 recommendations - including making water meters mandatory.

Nobbled!

The changes in Sir Jon #Cunliffe's report are far-reaching within the bounds set by the environment agency. But
@SteveReedMP's department ruled out public ownership from the start.

😡Steve Reed banned the Water Commission Report from exploring public ownership in England.
🤣He says it's too expensive. But the £100bn figure comes from a 2018 report funded by the water industry. We say that it's nonsense, & the experts agree. Watch this video to find out why

More than four years and half a million pounds, but still no regulation. Time for change? Chloe Alexander is senior campaigner at Chem Trust The UK has failed to regulate chemicals post-Brexit

Since exiting the EU chemical regulation system, the UK has not restricted a single chemical substance. In that time, the EU has restricted or banned 10 harmful substances. But they have had a good long think about maybe possibly banning lead shot.

Last night only THREE peers in the House of Lords called for public ownership of England's water industry.

That was me, Jenny Jones & Natalie Bennett (Green Party) out of a membership of 827.

Public ownership officially opposed by Labour, Tories and LibDems.

Most people want to end the scandal.
