Robert Skidelsky, the economic historian who was a leading authority on the life and work of John Maynard Keynes, has passed away

Symptom of a government who are quietly doing some excellent long terms things for this country, on energy and education, but have no coherent positive message. They need to look at what Mamdani is doing in NY message wise
War breaks out → oil spikes → prices surge → consumers squeezed
Meanwhile: Wall Street banks report record profits from “market volatility.”
That’s a shame. 😳
Confessions of a Pop Group is a high TSC watermark, some of Wellers finest work, but he should be as revered as Bowie, but strangely isn’t
Wow, Weller? Are you in the book?
The Style Council were such an important band for me. Did see The Jam at Wembley, but my older brother was a proper 79 Mod, I loved The Jam, but I was always a big jazz fan and left wing, so TSC resonated so much at the time
Reading this atm such a good book
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Think it’s the second book that brilliantly manages to integrate The Style Council into events around that time. www.theguardian.com/books/2023/j...
All the main ‘needs’ in economics have been left to the market, and are failing. Water, energy, housing and food.
One of the truly great economic writers
One of the great Economic books
Absolutely ✊
Oh, I just meant the Joe Thomas books are set in London, not claiming the exclusivity on racism!
Such an important part of this countries and London’s history. People forget how popular and vicious the far right were, with the NF and the BNP. It’s only the great and brave work of groups like RAR, GLC, Red Wedge, Weller, etc they transformed London into a better place. We should never forgot
It’s a fiction book trilogy, but Daniel Rachel advised on it, as it’s a brilliant trilogy of books around the events of RAR, Red Wedge, The Style Council, etc. such an important part of London history
My favourite all time music book. This is a nice companion piece as well.
Great that government acknowledging that troubling stats we see re young people – in this case NEET numbers – may be in part a product of ed policy. www.theguardian.com/education/20... But, with the Francis review having concluded that this is basically successful, policy not looking v joined-up.
Need to thank Michael Gove for that.
A massive market failure that this government and many previous have failed to deal with, and have mostly encouraged.
Good article in the house section in this weekends FT on it, relating to schools shutting in Hackney
The spine of our team is so weak.
All came from Mamardashvili given the ball to Pickford for no reason, and Konate being too soft again.
Need to buy Stewart Downing, to supply the crosses
Or tackling
Gravernberch is terrible and has been since the middle of last season. Doesn’t know to tackle, and Konate doesn’t win headers. Fundamental flaws in the team
Big up London Jazz. Ezra Collective, Moses Boyd. Nubya Garcia, Shabaka Hutchings 💪🇬🇧❤️ something this country should be celebrating.

Big up London and down with the far right racist dog whistlers
