I'm becoming absolutely fed up with #Unity. Building a moderately complex UI-only game for WebGL (Release, optimized for Disk Size, no LTO, on 6000.0.29f1) is taking upwards of 30 minutes on an M1 Max. A game of similar complexity made in #Defold builds for WebGL in less than 30 seconds. #gamedev

Different materials - different sounds, different colours of dust. This is thanks to my custom Defold component - I use it to store extra data about the parts of destructible buildings. That's handy!

ASTC 12x12 working in webgl. Looks awful and not even sure it's useful, but the data size for an arrayed atlas with two pages + a regular texture is roughly 20kb.

Currently working on rewriting our @defold.com texture compression pipeline to support more hardware texture formats such as ASTC and WebP via plugins. This is the current progress, we can now pick up and install compressor plugins that compresses each mipmap individually! #gamedev
