Any other PM-related Cardiff things that I've missed?!
James Callaghan is the only person to have held all 4 Great Offices of State. PM during difficult economic times (1976-79), his was the most recent government brought down by a vote of no confidence. Not a Welshman, but he represented Cardiff South in Parliament for 42 years!
Incidentally, the only PM to have been born in Wales (Lloyd George was born in Manchester but soon moved to Wales) is Julia Gillard who was Prime Minister of Australia 2010-13 having emigrated there as a child!
David Lloyd George (PM 1916-22) was a leading figure in the pre-WWI radical Liberal government and was PM for the 2nd half of the Great War and its aftermath. Not a Cardiff man specifically, but he was the UK's first Welsh PM & the only one not to have spoken English growing up.
Statues of the 2nd & 3rd Marquesses of Bute - descendants of the beautifully-legged PM Lord Bute (served 1762-63) and key figures in the development of the heavy industries in and around Cardiff in the 19th Century.

Just did a long run around Cardiff and wanted to show you the PM-related things I passed along the way (whilst in great pain...)
Excellent! Harold Wilson lived there for a bit, and it was renamed from just “North Street” to make it sound grander!
In Part 3, Lord North faces the fight of his life: the #AmericanRevolution
Turns out, holding on to a global empire thousands of miles away with an angry George III breathing down your neck is impossible, and North's response to rebellion goes from weak to confused to farcical.
#FreeLordNorth
Prime Ministers are dumb! Who would want to listen to an episode about stuffy Prime Ministers, when you can listen to Abram tell me about the "Prime Ministers of Rock", the Beatles.
Don't ask me what I want it for
(Ah, Mr. Wilson)
If you don't want to pay some more
(Ah, Mr. Heath)

Politicians have some unexpected duties...
Within hours of tearing lumps out of each other at #PMQs, the #PrimeMinister and Leader of the Opposition (and both Speakers!) made a 60-mile dash to Kent to attend the installation of Sarah Mullaly as the 106th #ArchbishopOfCanterbury
Coming up on Lord North part 3... 👀🫖
In the meantime, catch up on the first two episodes on "the man who lost America"🗽here shows.acast.com/prime-time/e...

We’re not sure that he hasn’t been voting for other podcasts’ candidates… 😱
William Pitt fights on! Get voting, everyone! (No rotten boroughs here)
A great read! (which we used for our episodes)
More generally, the @histparl.bsky.social project is an amazing resource, filled with fascinating stuff which we'd highly recommend!

This is amazing!
We really should tell people that they can listen to BOTH our podcasts...
With amazing timing, we've just reached a position where the majority of our listeners now come from inside the US. For a British podcast about British history, this is a badge of hono(u)r!
NEW EPISODE: Lord North, part 2
Things are hotting up in 1770s #America and the British Prime Minister Lord North isn't doing much to stop it. In our second episode on "the man who lost America", we cover his rise to the top, and how the scene is set for the American Revolution

Hmmm… maybe if he’s watching it with a pen and paper, making copious notes…
Which I DO NOT think he is doing.
No! He’s the only one who does any work on this podcast! We can’t let him know that rest and relaxation is an option…
OK so our next episode might be delayed...
It was so fun to do!
