Interesting story Ben Franklin youngest son Francis Folger died at 4 from smallpox. Apparently some vaccine hesitation on Mrs. Franklin and the didn’t vaccinate Francis . In later writings Ben wrote about this with regret.
Yeah - he’s a terrible student of history. In the Russian campaign of 1812, most of the Grande Armée casualties were from starvation and disease - typhoid in particular. While the vaccine for it wasn’t available until the late 1800s, the lessons should still be clear.
