It's clear who Reform UK stand for - and it's not workers.
They seek to sow division, while committing to throw our hard-won rights on the scrapheap.

We pride ourselves as a nation of animal lovers - yet in 2024, 22,000+ animals were harmed by regulatory failures in labs.
It’s time to end animal testing.

💬 "To genuinely support children and families, we must take a holistic approach, addressing social media, smartphones, and platform design as interconnected, rather than separate, issues".
Michael Wheeler MP adds his thoughts to the ongoing debate around social media... 🤳 📱
Read here👇
It depends on the definition of social media and looking at how it's used. I believe that we need to work to preserve the benefits whilst still taking action because if we just adopt a blanket ban and expect that to fix things, it won't work.
On your first point, I don't think that would work by itself as it's not simply about content. On your second point, I completely agree.
Whether you think my motivation stems from being a 'weasel' or not, I'm not advocating the 'blunderbuss approach'. I don't believe it would work by itself anyway and would have negative consequences, that's the point of the letter.
Hello Rachel, the broader point of the letter argues that, for the reasons you say, we shouldn't focus too narrowly on social media as a) there are benefits from sites and apps in that area, and b) by itself, it's not the cause of the problem (I believe it's social media and smart phones combined).
As a dad and MP, I worry about the impact of social media on our children. Over 250 people in #WorsleyAndEccles have contacted me on this.
I’ve written to the Secretary of State to push for action - promoting safety while preserving access to positive, interest-based spaces.👇
NEXT WEEK: From meetings in Westminster and committee sessions, to visits across #WorsleyAndEccles, a constituency surgery, and school visits, it’s set to be a busy week.
Thanks for following this #WheelersWeekly. Until next week, take care!
PARLIAMENT: Like many in #WorsleyAndEccles, I’ve been using Duolingo to learn a new language. It’s a useful way to challenge myself and maintain a routine. Like last year, I'm taking part in the Westminster Duolingo Challenge hoping to win some money for local groups.
CONSTITUENCY: I visited Irlam Post Office and met the team to discuss how they’re building a modern, customer-focused Post Office that keeps postmasters at the heart of the business.
CONSTITUENCY: I met with Swinton Lions to hear about their plans for growth and their desire to move back to Salford.
It was great to meet. I know this club means a lot locally, and I’ll continue working with them to help them achieve their ambitions.
CONSTITUENCY: I’ve joined TikTok! 👉 tiktok.com/@michael.whe... I’ll be sharing more about my work in #WorsleyAndEccles and at Westminster. Follow to keep up with what’s happening locally and the issues I care about.
NATIONAL: I met with Andrew Western MP, Minister for Transformation, about the Government's parental leave and pay review. We discussed the need for more ringfenced paternity leave and the importance of a fair, comprehensive system that doesn’t rely on unpaid leave.
CONSTITUENCY: Playkidds in Swinton provides a safe and engaging space for young people in #WorsleyAndEccles to play and get active. I met the team this week to hear about their work and how they’re always adapting to meet local needs and remain accessible for families.
NATIONAL: Faster, more reliable trains are finally on the way. 🚆
£45bn for Northern Powerhouse Rail means better access to work, study, services, and support for local regeneration.
The North is finally getting the investment it deserves. 👇
CONSTITUENCY: I joined the BBC Breakfast team and local residents to discuss the warehouses. They never should have been approved in the first place, and I’ll keep working with local people to make sure their voices are heard. 👇
CONSTITUENCY: Alongside local Councillors for Astley and Tyldesley & Mosley Common, I’ve written to Steve Reed MP about the impact of current planning rules after four warehouses were built near homes in Astley.
Local people have been let down and they deserve better. 👇
Welcome to #WheelersWeekly!
There’s been a lot happening in #WorsleyAndEccles and across the country this week, including my BBC Breakfast debut. From local issues to wider national announcements, here’s a look at what’s been going on this week. 👇
Today I joined @samaritans.bsky.social for #BrewMonday. It was a reminder of how much of a difference a simple cuppa, a catch-up, or just talking about how we’re feeling can make.
If you or someone you know needs support, Samaritans are available on 116 123 or jo@samaritans.org
🚨𝗡𝗘𝗪! Comment piece from @mwheelermp.bsky.social on why he's launching our campaign to make sure the new right to a Guaranteed Hours Contract is implemented properly.
"Now that the Employment Rights Act has passed, there’s a risk people think ‘job done’."
labourunions.org.uk/comment-the-...
Everyone should have the right to a contract that reflects the hours they actually work. Labour’s Employment Rights Act could do just that – if we keep pushing to make sure the government gets this right.

Real wins for workers are a step closer as the Gov confirms new rights start in April:
🚼 Right to paternity leave from Day One
1️⃣ Right to unpaid parental leave from the first day in a new job
But this is just the start, add your name to back the New Deal in full

Local volunteers like Graham Walker are the heart of our community, keeping the spirit of Remembrance alive. I was very pleased to present him with a Letter of Appreciation recognising his dedication to veterans and the wider Armed Forces from the Secretary of State for Defence.
