Everyone with any institutional knowledge has walked out the door. There is no one there who was in the room when that work was prepared, or who fought to defend it at the LPAT. Technically, Waterfront Toronto is the planning authority, and the City is the approval authority. And they are silent!

JM makes many valid points; it's worth reading. I wonder why city hall has remained so silent.

It's 40 years since then soon-to-be-fired Canada Post CEO and ex-Toronto Transit Commission chief Michael Warren told our luncheon table that per-household mail delivery cost twice as much in Etobicoke and Scarborough as in old Toronto and that sprawl similarly made good transit much more expensive.

FastTrackTO Home of the 10-point plan to save Toronto's streetcar system.

Today FastTrackTO is officially launching and releasing our 10 point plan to modernize the Toronto Streetcar network. An iconic symbol of the city that could be fantastic with some achievable, common sense and low cost changes. The plan if implemented would transform the city.

LMAO: I saw BB King there. It was an institution. It was quite sad when you and your parents end up at the same bar.

I don’t talk about hockey much, but Mitch Marner has officially earned lifetime immunity from criticism. #MarnerMagic #TeamCanada #MilanoCortina2026
And honestly, he shouldn’t have been the one to leave Toronto.

Not sure TBH but last time I saw the numbers the connection was 3.5 time the cost of the line itself. There was also a proposal for a loop up to King which would allow the route to use the existing connection.

the cost is the bi directional connection at Union and a big sewer in the way.

Will the Eglinton Crosstown carry Toronto forward? The transit system, which opened this weekend, has been plagued with issues and delays

“The theme of the line was simple, light-filled boxes.”

“It was meant to be a strong, coherent system of clarity and simplicity.”

And should remain so for ECWE.

Globe editorial: The cost of Toronto’s free riders The federal government revoking part of the city’s housing money highlights a split between suburbs and old city

Well said. I support this editorial and think the new vision should incorporate a new Official Plan, since we're operating within a framework that is over 30 years old and no longer benefits all Toronto residents.

They don't own the land; they just lease it. The lease is up, and the landowners want to develop it, and they've been sitting on approved plans for years while they waited for the market to turn around. She doesn't have a choice.

Many Americans Are Open to Car-Free Living — Human Transit Is Americans a “car culture” or are they “car dependent”?  Do they drive because they love driving, or are they in an unhealthy relationship with a substance it would be happy to do without?  Obviousl...

An astonishing percentage of Americans are open to car-free living.

The problem isn't attitudes. The problem is the failure to invest in viable options.

A retro-futuristic map of Toronto transit

A retro-futuristic map of Toronto transit

This is GTA tradition. I, for one, look forward to Kiss’n’Riding to a terminal station in my flying car when all these Network 2011 lines open. I don’t live in TO now, so my chances of my commuter fantasy remain the same.

A friend made a great point last night: when we can’t afford the land transfer tax, we don’t move—we renovate. That pushes up prices on homes that used to be affordable entry points. Instead of turnover, everything gets more expensive. I worry this move could only exacerbate this current trend.
