Googled what voltage my LaCie Triple external HD takes, said 12V. Checked the LaCie page, saw an orange drive, 12V. Plugged a 12V adapter in and… fried the hard drive. It’s 5V.

Removed TVS diode, solder blob bridged fuse, and bam, it’s alive again, and no damage to the enclosure!

Huh, I’ve never had anything weird like that happen. Maybe it was unrelated to the XGA mod? You used a LG cable and didn’t make one by hand right?

Yep! Samsung LTN121X1-L02 or Philips LG LP121X04 from a G3 or G4 white iBook!

I’ve heard something about certain XGA panels being pinned backwards? That may have done it. I’ve done the mod on 6-7 iBooks now and never had a problem, I’ve just always sourced the right displays from a G4…

It has come to my attention that I have misgendered Harry. She is now known as Harriet and she is a female spotted orbweaver.

If you type in incomplete sentences.

And write fragments on separate lines.

It doesn’t make your point any more impactful.

It just makes it sound weird in my head.

OS-level zoom! I’m always control + scrolling to see da pixels! And keyboard navigation, escape to close dialogs, expecting fields to be focused when a dialog or popover is shown so I can use them immediately and hit enter when done — accessibility is enablement for all users, even power users!

Another batch of freshly rebuilt iBook clamshell batteries, this time with Samsung 30Q. A little less capacity at around 4,000mAh, but much better fit for the “wire” variety of OEM battery.

Nice work, and that’s a LOT of work! Did you have to weld the chassis? Now it’s time for the 640x480 mod!

Today is the 35th anniversary of the Capitol Crawl, in which disabled activists discarded their mobility aids at the foot of the Capitol steps to climb them in support of passage of the Americans with Disabilities Ac. Jennifer Keelan-Chaffins, 8, told reporters "I'll take all night if I have to!"
