@harleigh.bsky.social had the cool idea to use the compass node network instead of raw A* pathing for a closer approximation with less performance cost where the nodes were allowed to be in the level layers required them to be at a lower level than the info we needed to reference iirc.

Robust is a polite way to put a bunch of distance checks based on the max speed the player could go in various states and the total length in time of a conversation with no awareness of nav pathing but I’ll take it XD.
