AI is making CEOs delusional
AI is making CEOs delusional YouTube video by Mo Bitar

ah this kind of explains why it hits diff:

honestly, I mostly agree. any other wording feels like artificial candor/rapport, but this specific wording hits diff.

There's going to be a lot of product thinking, research, and energy poured into resolving this tension.

Or in the worst case some emergency disaster occurs. Inbox wipe, reputational harm getting fired. These are all actual outcomes.

All the energy around OpenClaw currently feels like the pendulum swinging away from safety.

What makes this harder: the risks are mostly invisible to non-technical users. You won't see the thing that went wrong. You'll just notice, eventually, that something is off.

The unsandboxed version of AI assistants are genuinely more powerful. They can actually do things. But the odds of something going sideways — quietly, in the background, in ways you don't notice until later — are real.

That's not FUD. That's just the tradeoff.

AI sandboxes are important and safe. They're also objectively less useful than an AI that has access to your email, calendar, to-do list, github, and everything else.
Both of those things are true at the same time

Unrelated to anything I have a CLAUDE md directive asking it to tell me a joke every time it loads, mostly as a kind of canary so that I know it loads.

The jokes are actually… Not bad? They’re more like the bones of a joke and usually need some wording fixes to make them land naturally tho.

Not gonna lie when Claude Code tells me “that’s a sharp insight“ it’s a like a huge shot of happy straight into the self-esteem neighborhood of my soul.

Huh. Automation is kind of addictive. It’s easier now than ever and the more I practice the more opportunity I see everywhere.

Just Use Postgres

"Just Use Postgres" has officially evolved to "Still Mostly Using Postgres." Updated the post with two years of hindsight.

I build in debug-ability with every prompt/spec/prd these days. logging at a minimum. usually a show debug info setting or flag. once out of a moment of desperation, said "pretend this had MCP , what would it tell you"

and if you label your documents "January...", "Feb..." they are no longer lexically sortable and I hate everything about that.

I say this as an optimist, but I’m not sure how optimism is a thing. if I project back to the pre-agriculture hunter gather era, people who are optimistic about eating the red mushroom or I can get the bear and make a stew, it doesn’t seem like they would be very good at passing along their genes

1. the centaur-related terminology in AI, which I believe originates from the chess world, cracks me up
2. the notion of humans as scapegoats for AI is the most dystopian of outcomes

I try to and also encourage my son to say thank you to Siri, cause gratitude is a good habit to build.

if you routinely threaten in your prompts, I have to imagine that seems like it would leak into your human interactions over time.

Can confirm. some chunk is usually just misattributed, but the rest is probably related to simple exposure and/or the advertising rule of seven.
