"In the place of problem-solving technology, companies have jumped on successive bandwagons like NFTs, the metaverse, and large language models. What these all have in common is that they are not built to really solve a market problem. They are built to make VCs and companies rich"

A screenshot of Spotify on TV showing the 80s pop band Starship, every single band member sporting an epic perm mullet. It is glorious
So much mullets going on. Also appreciate they've never updated their band photo since the 80s π₯°

2 firefighters take a short, and likely needed, rest below a statue tribute to firefighters past and present just outside Glasgow Central Station, near where a massive fire completely destroyed a whole building.
Our flat stinks of smoke this morning, and a Glasgow landmark has gone overnight.
Awful to see a piece of history destroyed but so glad no-one was hurt, and amazed by the firefighters who stopped the fire spreading further
For that wee cross-section of people who listen to podcasts, have a bunch of spare time right now, and are also REALLY curious what it's like working for Devolver, a bunch of the team did a mega interview with some fun behind-the-scenes stories
Thank you, I fully thought it was some movie bull π
It's been decades since this film came out, and yeah there are some silly/dated references, and most of the daytime CG might look a bit of its time, but otherwise it stands up - worth a rewatch for those old-school feels
"It's a Unix system, I know this" (proceeds to deal with a 3D system that has never existed)
Now the dinos look weirdly naked : "feathered theory" might be recent but it now feels clear that dinosaurs probably didn't have roasted chicken physiques
Also have to appreciate all the short-shorts worn by every gender - this film has something scary and titilating for everyone
Movies of this era straddled a finer line between ridiculous and believable than today - I appreciate the faux-science silliness of 90's films to the "well this would never happen but whatever" truthiness of modern films
The way the toilet perfectly collapses outwards from the scumbag lawyer, who for some reason has down-troused and throne straddled while running from a T-Rex is *chef-kiss*
