We are getting close to planting our target 26,800 plots for the year. Unbelivable effort from our hard working technical team at UQ and Queensland DPI.
Great to catch up with Alex Wu and to check out our @theGRDC @GRDCNorth experiment focused on improving photosynthesis and transpiration in sorghum.

Great to see the almost perfect establishment in our GRDC DPI sorghum lodging experiment. Love sorghum!

Getting excellent germination results from last year's hybrid seed. Bodes well for good trials this year.
First time I have seen a Rakali or Australian water rat.
Very excited that our student Laura won the best student talk at #APBC2025 for work on female fertility in sorghum with @emmaomics.bsky.social
Great set of sorghum talks at the Australasian Plant Breeding Conference 8% of the program #APBC

I love wattle!
The milky way
Great night for star gazing. This photo was taken with my mobile phone. I am so lucky to live where I do. Light polution means that many people never see the stars.
Definitely, I was there a couple of weeks ago

Sorghum plants with pollination bags on their heads.
Our divergent selection experiment is in full swing led by Sofie Pearson. 6000 individually RFID tagged plants phenotypes before flowering enabling data driven crosses to be made. Great support for this work from Sean MRR and Colleen Hunt #logistics #fielddata
The durra race of sorghum is a favourite. Interesting history. The goose neck phenotype is common.
Great to get @emmaomics.bsky.social out in the field today to see some genotypes that are not just a string of zeros and ones 000111010101
After 35 years I still get joy out of single head harvesting of new populations. #loveplantbreeding
So touching, I am not sure what to say
Big morning of hand harvesting today. 500 AxR plots. Many hands make light work.
