Anyway thank you for coming to my TED Talk, one measly playtrough and I've stuck it back in the box and looking to pick up complete DW8 and SW5 on Steam. 👴🏻

After all that though, it still feels like a more worthwhile attempt at a reboot compared to Samurai Warriors 5, at least this has tried something new for the series even if it hasn't clicked with me. SW5 basically gutted a whole load of content just for a soft narrative reboot with the same engine.

Gameplay wise; The huge battles just become an absolute mess as well, actually felt more block-locked in these than I ever did in the old ones with rigid combo structures and none of the skills to use. And the amount of times that the action pauses to show you a tactic or action from elsewhere 👎👎👎

And having more cutscenes than a Square rpg. Also annoying to me that they've finally focussed and expanded on the pre-3k era and there's no new characters added cos why would they when you're just playing as mute rpg hero? Would have been cool to see some new faces.

Like I get the formula was jaded for a lot of folks, but somehow basically turning into parry mash with a bare bones Ubisoft experience in between levels was not massively fun. Controlling one single bland character and going through inconsequential dialog choices for the whole game 👎👎👎

Finally finished a playthrough of DW Origins, and I do not get how people are loving it. Probably just a different perspective of people who liked the old ones, but this feels worse than pretty much any iteration I can remember (I skipped 9 cos I could tell that was doodoo from the get go)
