What’s the best affordable DAW/recording software? I don’t have a Mac and i’ma need some synth plug-ins.
But then modern country is more sociopolitical: I drive a truck, I go to church, I fear the city, etc.

It’s nothing to do with quality, there’s plenty of shitty metal out there.
Generally speaking, I think a lot of it has to do with the themes of the music.
Metal has a pretty universal human message: death is scary, religion is scary, I am angry, etc.
Agreed, and that’s why commercial metal feels bad, too.
people could say the same thing about metal. Purple castles and demons and shit aren’t exactly major players in my everyday life, so why does modern country feel so fake, but not metal?
I have some theories but I wanna know other people’s take on this.
