The main text is a quote in a lighter green box: “The food is also really important. The meals are tasty and help give us the energy to play, learn, and enjoy the day. If the food stopped, it would make the day harder because having a nice meal together is part of what makes [the holiday club] feel welcoming and caring.”
Sharing healthy meals in holiday clubs helps create a nutritional safety net for children who might otherwise go hungry whilst also being a social activity that brings people together and teaches the importance of good food. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers bringing ...

He also addresses concerns about so called “social tourism”, explaining that HAF programmes take place in areas of deprivation and are rooted in local communities which makes them particularly effective at reaching those who need support most.
In this clip from the Feeding Britain podcast, Mark Lawrie, CEO of StreetGames UK and member of the HAF Alliance, discusses the importance of opening up eligibility to children and young people living in deprived areas, not just those currently eligible for Free School Meals.
As HAF programmes begin to wrap up following the Easter break across the UK, many providers are thinking about how support can reach more children and young people who need it most.
We’re incredibly grateful to all the staff and volunteers making this possible, as well as all the generous funders who have resourced these vital additional places at each of the holiday clubs.

A green graphic from Feeding Britain titled “The Impact of Healthy Holidays Programmes,” with the Feeding Britain logo in the top right. In a rounded beige box, a quote reads: “For me, [the holiday club] is more than just somewhere to go during the holidays. It is a place where I feel happy, safe, and included. It makes the holidays something to look forward to, and I know many children feel the same way. I really hope it can continue so that lots of children can keep enjoying it.”
With Easter holiday clubs running across our network, we wanted to share some of the feedback we have received this year from the Healthy Holidays programme. Providing a safe, inclusive space for children and young people is just one of the many benefits of Healthy Holidays.
Thank you to Tilly for all her hard work and to everyone who has donated so far. A little over two weeks to go!

The text reads: “A Statement from Feeding Britain: ‘This is a most significant week in the fight against child poverty, as the two-child limit within the benefits system finally comes to an end. Hundreds of thousands of children will be both lifted free from the clutches of hunger and destitution, and also enabled to fulfil their potential throughout their education. Feeding Britain has, over several years, recommended the abolition of the two-child limit. It has, at last, been abolished.’ Andrew Forsey OBE, National Director of Feeding Britain.”

In this clip, Francesca Wood discusses the opportunities there are to utilise the HAF programme in order to upskill young people and prepare them for their future working life in order to help address the numbers of young people who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training).
As the Easter holidays begin, Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programmes are once again underway across the country, with our brilliant partners providing nutritious meals, enriching activities and safe places for young people during the school holidays.
A statement from Feeding Britain: “Following successive years’ increases in food bank usage, yesterday’s official data show there were the beginnings of a welcome reversal in 2024-25 - accompanied by a reduction in household food insecurity - with 200,000 fewer children, and 100,000 fewer working-age adults, having relied on a food bank in the previous 12 months. This represents an important first step in the right direction, but clearly much hard work remains if we are to end the mass dependence on emergency food parcels.”
