Aftersun (2022) remains the best movie of 2020s so far. It is a thermonuclear experience and almost feels like an entirely 1/1 genre in terms of filmmaking.

I swear the apple watch worked and the oligarchs have been trying to shove glasses into people's faces for like 10 years. The glasses will never catch on.
Here is a fairly vague post: Sometimes you might have a colleague fighting the good fight for you behind closed doors. And if that colleague succeeds, no one will ever know.
Designing a cool scraping tutorial for my social media methods class. I'm glad Wikipedia never locked down it's site.
Whenever I have a paper under review, I check the submission site every few days even though I will get an email when the reviews are back.
"your ai slop bores me" is an OUTSTANDING website!
"...Serving as a parody of large language models...all questions and image prompts posed by users are answered by other, randomly-selected human users of the site....The site has reached 50 million hits..."

In my social media methods class, students interviewed people about social media algorithms (and platforms). Some participants mentioned that threads and Instagram are more aggressive and mentioned a gendered element ("the boy platform"). Have you encountered scholarship about this?
I keep asking “who is this for,” with respect to a lot of social media and AI apps. Even students don’t get it. in class we settled on the rich.
Hades 2!!!!!
Can this be chalked up to a version of data leakage?
I saw Liz Miele last night. She was fantastic.
Brie and raspberry jam on sourdough could solve a lot of your problems
Cover for "Critical Fandom" with different images, icons, and textures inspired by fantasy and sci-fi shows and films.
My book is almost here!
In Critical Fandom, I examine fanfiction trends and author's reflections on their writing. How do fanfic authors critique their fandoms and the media they love (Legend of Korra, GOT, Black Panther, OFMD)?

I think the CEOs are all cooking themselves with Claude and ChatGPT
Now the truth is most AI is very bad. we need to have conversations about quality.
I don’t ban AI use in my class. I ban bad writing.
AI programming does *exactly* what you tell it do. It doesn’t do anything more (like look for data homogenization problems) or it’ll analyze everything in the folder including other folders you didn't mean it to. It’s a practical application of the alignment problem.
Them: we want you do it for love
Me: sure, for the love of money

Spacehog is not the best 90s song but it’s the most quintessential

Always. Participation inequality. It's sorta the most conspiratorial I get about the nature of the universe.
I miss reading weird internet posts with song lyrics designed to puzzle readers and get back at ex’s.
I’m finally putting my big dataset into one massive frame and modeling stuff. It’s addictive.
The view that "AI can write literature reviews" is an indication that posters are admitting to not reading literature reviews or thinking about their work in the context of scholarship. People who hold this view are ignoring the work of science and/or scholarly conversation.
In fairness, there are treaties.
Having just gotten out of a meeting about chasing grants, I concur.
Fascinating video about how there are fake videogame reviewers (generated by GenAI) with evidence to prove it. Dead internet theory, with evidence.
