The former stood the test of time better than latter, partly due the insane skill level of Perry Twins. Also today everything is digital and you have libraries to use, back then it was a whole different ballgame and the tools were... atrocious.

A LOT happened here tech-wise and sculpting knowledge-wise. For example the Mordheim/Empire militia plastics were hand-sculpted by Perry Twins and were done 3X actual size and mirrored and scanned, while the Chaos warriors used different tech and sculpting technique.
