I also learned about an old arcade game called Mappy where you play as a mouse-cop trying to steal back the Mona Lisa from a gang of cat-thieves? Very inspirational tbh

oatmeal problem = goopy sameyness
This week @pancelor.bsky.social started working on a semi-procedural "Chaos Mode" - it smushes together chunks of hand built levels with randomly chosen enemies, hazards and quests. It is still early, but I like this approach for trying to avoid the oatmeal problem

I have this very loose design pillar for Gaarl that everything in the game should be "recognizably something", even if that something doesn't really belong. I am hoping that a big collection of somethings will accumulate into an interesting collage of stuff
I added new graphics to change an existing indistinct blobby enemy into smiley/frowny/straight line faces

A hand-crafted interactive political allegory written in the author's mother tongue. One intricate vignette about 19 national birds, a red planet and freedom.
My upcoming game "Kansallislintuja; punaisessa planeetassa." can now be wishlisted on Steam! (link below)
oops I forgot to tag @pancelor.bsky.social :)

I have a demo! GAARL is a single screen arcade-y platformer roguelike about climbing chains. My name ended up in the acronym (Gabe's Action Arcade RogueLike) but Pancelor also put a lot of work into this. It is playable in the browser, check it out!
