Maya works her ass off and is so creative, warm, and passionate. She deserves nothing but the best and I am distraught I won’t get to bask in her light every day anymore. Every book she worked on was better for it.
Comics may not deserve her but it sure needs her.

Mostly because it's funny, I do think one of those secret service agents accidentally popped Kennedy when they heard Oswald's shot

I want to hold a copy of the book we spent 6 years on, man
Hey folks, after nearly 4 years at Mad Cave, I was let go this morning. It was a wonderful time getting to work with an amazing list of creators. If we have worked together, please stay in touch. I am available for freelance editing and would love to work with you all in the future.
It seems like a year can't go by without layoffs across comics publishers. What a great reward for doing the completely thankless work to create and sell books that grow a publisher in size and esteem.
Captain America Defeated in the Marketplace of Ideas
This and developing some lesson plans/materials are gonna have to keep me occupied during the summer so that I don't lose my mind without the structure of a work week.
It has me really noticing how much the Avengers (along with Cap, Thor, and Iron Man solos) were driving the bus and how suddenly that collapsed after Secret Wars. Those titles end up losing an "essential" quality over time which makes sense given the shift away from the One Continuous Narrative.
Still putting together my physical copies for the big Marvel Event re-read I'm doing, but the scale got wonky when I decided to do one or two tie-in volumes for each event along with some of the connective tissue between them.
Nathan Fielder is The Human Target
Dune Messiah adapted and staged in the style of a Greek tragedy would be so fun. Biggest stage effect you'd need is a bright light and a machine to lift Paul Muad'Dib away at the end.
Palmcorder Yajna one of those "run through plate glass and never stop" songs
My summer off from work is coming soon, and I'll have a lot of time focused on writing scripts and proposals (along with a little editing on the side).
I'll appreciate any opportunities to pitch original work or WFH, write on your project, etc.

Yup
Godzilla's pulling you off the mound. You've thrown too many wild pitches. Give him the fucking ball.
This is as close to doing Superman as I'll ever get, but this was David, Jodie, and I doing an 8-page thing about being young and really getting your life going.
I usually like put outa new comic on my birthday, so I'm happy to share a new short I did with David Jamison and @longtalljodie.com.
It's called "Golden Boy," and you can read it at my site linked in this post or you can check out the pages in the replies to this. 1/4
Goku: This Sparrowhawk guy seems strong!
Ursula K. Le Guin: Yes, he was quite strong, but strength meant nothing compared to his foolishness.
Goku: Wow.
It is a shame that the series never really recaptures the really potent energy that existed after his dad left and he was fully in that "growing up too fast" zone.
illustration is a cover image. on a bright red background stands a lifeless suit of armor being overtaken by a strange moss like plant that's all roses and twigs.the title of the comic is Pocket full of posies, by Ripley ash

Love those kids cheering for Magneto to whoop ass
Assorted flavors of Marvel Events:
- AU Tie-Ins Coming in Hot (House of M, Age of Ultron, Secret Wars)
- No, Fuck YOU (Civil War, World War Hulk, AvX)
- Damn, They Got Us (Secret Invasion, Original Sin, Secret Empire)
House of M: Spider-Man, Civil War Frontline, Empyre: X-Men, things of that nature
I'm gearing up for my big Marvel Events re-read and an even sicker part of me wants to supplement each one with one exemplary tie-in TPB.
Another day, another teacher looking for some help paying for things.
This time it's copies of SUPERMAN SMASHES THE KLAN for a comics elective unit focused on genre as rhetoric and archetypal storytelling.
This isn't a cover or anything, it isn't the climax of a big storyline or even a first page. "The Joker's Five-Way Revenge" is a really solid Batman story because Denny O'Neil doesn't miss, but it didn't HAVE to be a classic. Neal Adams just hit the drawing board one Tuesday and locked the fuck in
Truly disgusting
