Three graphs titled 'A ED-1 and ED-2', 'B ED-1', and 'C ED-2', showing odds ratio vs. heat index in °F. Odds ratio ranges from 0.8 to 1.2, heat index from 50 to 100. Each graph plots a curve with shaded area indicating confidence interval.

Among adults aged ≥65 years, higher emergency department use during summer heat was observed in an urban safety-net hospital serving socioeconomically vulnerable groups, indicating that #ExtremeHeat impacts are not captured by citywide advisories.

my takeaway from climate week nyc is that "climate storytelling" is a little too much "we must reimagine our deepest souls in relationship to mother nature and the moral abyss of the polycrisis into which we must now stare" and not enough "ok but get a heat pump"
