Quite odd for my first Sunday at this church is on Easter. Talk about a flexible staff team. It's been a while since I've preached on Easter, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday helped to ease me in and be ready for Sunday.

Israel passes the death penalty, by hanging, on Palestinians. The Knesset has passed a law making the default punishment for convictions of deadly attacks.

On March 30, the Israeli Parliament passed a bill that mandates the death penalty for Palestinians accused of killing an Israeli settler, either intentionally or recklessly, deemed act of terrorism by a military court. It does not include zionists who killed native Palestinians, making it a law that is racially discriminatory.

Unanimous consent of judges will not be required to impose the death penalty and those sentenced will not be allowed appeals. B'Tselem, an Israeli human rights organization, said that "these military courts have an approximately 96% conviction rate, based largely on 'confessions' extracted under duress and torture".

Since October 2023, over ​72,000 Palestinians have been murdered. This law aims to serve the ethnic cleansing and genocide perpetrated by Israel and enabled by the international community.

Israel has now codified state-sanctioned execution based on identity. The parliament approved a law for hanging of Palestinian prisoners.
No judicial consent required.
No appeal allowed.
