Also the idea that humans and bipedal robots somehow share a half marathon record is exceedingly stupid

This is huge as well
Doesn’t feel fear, doubt, pain, elation, who cares
This is wild: prosecutors have stayed sex assault charges against Edmonton spiritual leader John de Ruiter, and the defence is basically alleging prosecutorial misconduct edmontonjournal.com/news/no-viab...

Years ago there was a great feature I'll never be able to find again about how basically no one in the U.S. Navy ever gets anything close to proper sleep, which was blamed for a couple deadly collisions with other ships. Here' the TLDR: www.military.com/dodbuzz/2018...
I feel like "indefinite blockade in place where the temperature regularly exceeds 100 F" might impact U.S. Navy retention rates
New from me: an Edmonton articling student suspended for taking legal cases without telling his boss has been rebuked for using AI to write submissions appealing the suspension.
Law society found he cited a “hallucinated” case that doesn’t exist.

I'm now informed that there was concern the signatures might be submitted early and that the CEO could start counting them before Justice Leonard's decision came out.
But if you're the First Nations I'm guessing its better to have the judge find irreparable harm at this stage than not
My read, despite all the celebration/lamentations, is this doesn't really affect much. Temporarily prevents Chief Electoral Officer from certifying sigs, which wouldn't happen (if I understand correctly) before May 2. Judge was pretty clear she'll have decided the case by then.
Breaking: two First Nations have won a limited initial ruling in their challenge of the Alberta separatist petition, with a judge pausing certification of signatures until her full decision in the case. edmontonjournal.com/news/politic...
Breaking!!
The court issued an interim stay already on the separatist case heard this week! 👏
This the day after the NDP hitched its brand to the "stay" campaign in the separatist referendum.
Leger has the Alberta NDP 17 points behind the UCP.
As an aside, this is the first time I've heard a lawyer suggest a judge (Feasby) ruled the way he did because he was tired and mad
My attempt at summarizing separatist lawyer Jeff Rath's arguments in today's hearing on the legality of Alberta independence edmontonjournal.com/news/politic...
After three days we're done! Justice Leonard says she's going to work "very quickly" on a decision.
