Everyone kindly helped us say goodbye as well! So long and thanks, ingress-nginx!

Check out the new blog I put together with @robertjscott.ca about what's going on with the Ingress NGINX Controller retirement and why you should take this opportunity to shift toward using Gateway API to manage Ingress for your Kubernetes Workloads!
For many, Ingress NGINX was our first step into K8s networking. With its retirement set for March, we’re sharing why Gateway API is the future of extensible, role-oriented traffic management. 📈

What was your first "Hello World" in Kubernetes?
Distraught woman says ICE killed her wife in video after deadly Minneapolis shooting "They killed my wife," the distraught woman says, adding, "They shot her in the head." An ICE agent shot and killed a 37-year-old woman who was driving an SUV in Minneapolis on Wednesday. / Screenshot/@Breaking911
"They killed my wife. I don't know what to do," the woman says through sobs in the footage, with a damaged SUV visible in the distance behind her. "We stopped to videotape, and they shot her in the head," the woman cries. "We have a six-year-old at school," she says, almost unable to breathe, as a chaotic scene in which federal officers prevented at least one doctor who was on the scene from assisting the shot victim unfolds. "We're new here," the distraught woman says in despair.
You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today.
This could be you.

As I fly back from KubeCon NA — A Note About Open Source Maintenance From The Perspective of a Maintainer:

If you're at #KubeCon today, I'll be talking about how Multi-Cluster Inference Gateways can enable you to maximize the utilization of your GPUs across Kubernetes clusters: kccncna2025.sched.com/event/27FeP/...
If you happen to be using GKE, I'd love to get your feedback on our built in implementation of the API.
We've invested a lot in conformance tests to ensure that the experience is truly portable. I'd recommend choosing from the set of implementations that are conformant with our latest release of the API (that includes Traefik): gateway-api.sigs.k8s.io/implementati....
Quote from New York Times article: At one point on Saturday, 18 out of 22 controllers in Atlanta did not show up to work, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “It’s only going to get worse,” Mr. Duffy said.
Flying to/from Atlanta does not look like it's going to get easier anytime soon. Best of luck to anyone trying to make it to KubeCon.

View from plane after taking off from SJC
7h later than expected, but KubeCon bound at last. Here's hoping flights start clearing up for everyone else as well.
Lots of us in SJC with an 8h delay, hearing similar delays in SFO heading to ATL. Hope you have better luck
Lots of us trying to fly out of SJC on a flight that's now delayed by >6h. If we make it there, hard to imagine how painful the way back will be.
Using multi-cluster environments in production? SIG #Multicluster is building a multi-cluster management and monitoring tool. You can contribute and have your pain points addressed by filling out the form yourself/sharing it with others who have relevant experience: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
My biggest contribution ever to Kubernetes has merged today!
Now GatewayAPI website has dark mode :x
You are welcome
If you have not seen this video, please watch it. No matter how brazen and disgusting you think these people are, they are worse. It’s so vile. I feel powerless.
Congrats Yuan!
If you're at #KubeCon London, @strongjz.bsky.social and I will be talking about how we're planning to help Ingress-NGINX users migrate to Gateway API. We've got a lot of work left to do, and your feedback is going to be critical to ensure we're prioritizing the right features.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at #KubeCon!
Ingress is dead, long live....Gateway API
Luckily there is a community written tool to make the transition seamless. Find out how to use ingress2gateway in this blog from Christine Kim
No, the meeting did not go badly for Ukraine. It exposed in the most undeniable, unequivocal way possible the pro-Putin commitments of the president and vice president. That was information Americans and allies needed to have clear before them.
Wrote about how easy it is to claim you saved taxpayers billions when you just make shit up. But also how this is the Twitter Files all over again. The dumbest people don't know what they're looking at so it must be a conspiracy www.techdirt.com/2025/02/19/i...
+1, best part of KubeCon is the people, would be great to meet in person
I think we all know that YAML defines all of these as boolean false:
no, No, NO, false, False, FALSE
But did you know that these are all integers in YAML:
42, 42_, _42, _4_2_, __________4__________2__________
... and they all mean the same thing?
Excited to share the v0.1.0 release of Gateway API Inference Extension: github.com/kubernetes-s...
This has been a fun project to be a part of. We're leaning into an extensible system that allows for highly customizable routing extensions. Looking forward to seeing this built into lots of Gateways.
