Ah yes, the ceaseless gifts of mortality.🙃

A screenshot from an article featuring a photo of a stone carved artwork, showing ancient writing and depicting the Goddess Inanna. The Goddess has wings, she holds a scepter in one hand and has one leg bent and resting on a lion's back. The text reads "of people living outside the gender binary in ancient Mesopotamia. The words of Enheduanna, Inanna’s High Priestess in the city of Ur in the 23rd Century BCE, attest to this. In her Passionate Inanna she writes: ‘To destroy, to create, to tear out, to establish are yours, Inanna. / To turn a man into a woman and a woman into a man are yours, Inanna.’ (115-131). The exact meanings of the original Sumerian cannot be known for sure; the passage could instead relate simply to gender stereotypes, but this is not the only instance of ancient references to people living outside the gender binary. "
A screenshot from an article, the text reads "In Sumerian times, priests for Inanna known as the gala were said to have been created by the god Enki to sing laments for her, one of their central roles in her temple. From the beginning of the Old Babylonian Period, their role was heavily expanded, and mourning rites originally sung by women replaced over time by members of the gala. Men who joined the priesthood in devotion for Inanna became women for all intents and purposes, adopting female names and singing in the Sumerian eme-sal dialect, reserved for feminine speakers to render the speech of female gods. The gala were heavily involved in her temples, performing elegies and lamentations, presiding over religious rites and healed and looked after the sick and poor. They were respected members of the community, closely related"
Trans people have always existed and always will, in every culture, since the beginning of the human race. We will always be here, they cannot stop us. (From Ancient Mesopotamian Transgender and Non-Binary Identities - by Morg Daniels ) www.academuseducation.co.uk/post/ancient...
IF YOU'RE UNEMPLOYED IT'S NOT BECAUSE THERE ISNT ANY WORK JUST LOOK AROUND: A HOUSING SHORTAGE, CRIME, POLLUTION; WE NEED BETTER SCHOOLS AND PARKS. WHATEVER OUR NEEDS, THEY ALL REQUIRE WORK. AND AS LONG AS WE HAVE UNSATISFIED NEEDS, THERE'S WORK TO BE DONE. SO ASK YOURSELE, WHAT KIND OF WORLD HAS WORK BUT NO JOBS. IT'S A WORLD WHERE WORK IS NOT RELATED TO SATISFYING OUR NEEDS, WORLD WHERE WORK IS ONLY RELATED TO SATISFYING THE PROFIT NEEDS OF BUSINESS. THIS COUNTRY WAS NOT BUILT BY THE HUGE CORPORATIONS OR GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRACIES. IT WAS BUILT BY PEOPLE WHO WORK. AND, IT IS WORKING PEOPLE WHO SHOULD CONTROL THE WORK TO BE DONE. YET, AS LONG AS EMPLOYMENT IS TIED TO SOMEBODY ELSE'S PROFITS, THE WORK WONT GET DONE.

Tell me you bought out news outlet without saying you bought out new outlets.....
Damn the propaganda machine is hard at work this weekend. The documentary that no wanted or asked for went from being reported as a total flop and playing to empty theaters to
"Best documentary debut in over 10 years in its opening weekend" implied grossing $8million...
January really is just "hold my beer" energy. Need something to look forward to and perhaps help ground you? Check the classes for this month! Learn about zines, printing tote bags, or Polaroid Emulsion
After seeing several skit variations of drivers wanting to embrace the final destination scene rather than dreading it is a pivot I wasn't quite expecting for 2025.
There was a comment in response to a comic about being excited seeing a mushroom cloud after getting rejected for work the 27th time and it's still haunting me...
"It's easier to imagine the end of the world than it is to imagine the end of Capitalism"

Second that! I bought a Costco box of greens and it was spoiled within a day. Bought a different brand last night and had throw out a good third of the leaves.
Starting my indoor growing for baby greens here soon. Tired of rotten salad mixes
Great time visiting Portland last week. Our hotel (the Moxy) hosted a pop-up craft fair one evening. Had to have this tee bc Halloween, natch. And the cards I bought are so cool, I will probably never send them and just keep them for myself. Art by @dancingheron.bsky.social

One of the things I love about my studio location is the two story windows that perfectly frame the autumn colors. I can sit on my couch and feel okay in those moments.

Also nothing like starting the day where you are given some information that would have me prepping for a convention that is a week away, only to be told it was a system error an hour later.
Eventhough its only been a couple weeks since I started opening up on Wednesday at the studio, hanging back at home feels weird like I am playing hookie. But its because there is a very important UPS package I am waiting on.
Being self-employed can be a really weird space sometimes
Did little renovating on my Patreon page. If you haven't been in a while, its worth a peek.

Plastic decoration skeleton POV of downtown portland
Fairly quiet day at the studio. Did some printing. Skeleton longs to be friends with the wire spiders.
The only comfort I have been able to take is what this Oregon national guard general stated the other day

Heart of downtown, next to the max line and next door to Sinister Coffee (IG Sinisterpdx)
Dropping some new product/designs this week at the studio. New shirt, patch, and bandana! Also a special design for pants, towels, and back panels.
And on Friday, I'm hosting a local Printmaker (IG cripplecraft), so bring something to be printed on. I will have fabric and paper scraps available.
Unfortunately even when I say firm on a listing, I still get haggling inquiries. Just the nature of beast 🤷🏼
Hosting a monthly market pop up at my studio tomorrow.
It's a perfect excuse to come downtown, enjoy some art, pop next door for some excellent coffee at Sinister and perhaps a walk?

Other than that, it really felt like we were celebrating the host, not the community he claims to have built.
Went to a little business/customer meet and mingle. Everyone was registered, but when the host greeted me, didn't know who I was nor what I did.
Felt really out of place. Ran into a mutual and their friend and chatted most of the time.
