New publication, the second from my time as a postdoc at UC Santa Cruz and NOAA Fisheries! We developed a panel of microhaplotype loci to identify kin in northern elephant seals, a species where this problem has been difficult given limited genetic diversity.

I’ve been fortunate to have advisors and colleagues remind me that my efforts make me an expert on the topics I’ve invested in. I never need the ego boost, but it’s reassuring that patience, collegiality and hard work has kept me on the right path. (3/3)

That’s a wrap on SMM 2024 for me. Not only did I get to learn about some amazing science being done across the globe, but I was able to reconnect with friends and colleagues I’ve made throughout the years, and make entirely new ones! (1/3)
