Toronto’s donor-funded consumption sites bracing for fallout of Ontario funding cuts | Globalnews.ca Ontario is giving seven defunded consumption sites time to transition to its abstinence-based model — homelessness and addiction recovery treatment, or HART, hubs.

“We all support people who want to stop or change their drug use. But those of us who work in the field understand that that is often a really long process that requires a lot of support. What safe consumption sites do is … they make sure that people can stay alive during that process.”

There had to be 300+ professionals there, many of them non-Indigenous allies from hospitals, health & community organizations. An encouraging sign of the desire to learn, improve and lead change. When we improve health justice and outcomes for Indigenous Peoples we build a better health system.

Coudln’t agree more. AI has amazing potential to improve (or harm) our lives. It needs to be on a thoughtfully-developed regulatory leash.

“It’s tempting … to fill the airwaves with Reagan reminding Americans, as their lives get harder and more expensive, who did it to them. But that solution belongs to a saner and more satisfying world than this one, in which the mad king holds all the cards.
Instead, the only thing to do is wait.”

Canadians deserve realness and generational thinking to preserve what makes our country great. Public health care is foundational to being Canadian and we need honest, adult conversations and tough, principled decision-making. We can do it.
