High USD demand is a big part of what made us so rich & so priveleged. But they think we need to crush the Dollar, make ourselves poorer so we can rebuild something that isn't broken so we can become richer. It's so crazy.

& there is no "unsustainable" trade deficit. We have $30T of domestic income, $250T of private sector assets. It's not "unsustainable" to send $1T abroad every year. That's like having $250K assets, $30K income & convincing yourself that paying your barber $1K a year puts you in financial distress.

Being the reserve currency is a privilege that benefits the USA. It's a symbol that people want Dollars. The world is clamoring to do business with us. Saying it hurts us is like Apple complaining the demand for their stock is too high & that "hurts" them b/c they can't invest at lower prices.

It's so bonkers to see the richest economy in human history saying that they're the victim of a system they built, the system that made them the richest.

Maybe, but the responses to this thread aren't "better than that". I have never been called a grifter or Nazi supporter in my entire life. And this thread didn't make me want to use this site at all. That might be worth remembering as you try to grow this place & welcome people in.

The community is larger and more entrenched from the pre-Elon days. Franky, it's a superior information tool because of that.
