Donald Trump and Republicans have tried to rig the 2026 midterms. Today in Virginia, voters sent them a clear message: The power is with the people.

The “achievements” Abdul made in his unelected public health positions, all made possible by programs, policy, and funding from the legislators he attacks but also seeks to be. He carried out THEIR policies with THEIR funding. Just give a little credit where it’s due. Who do you think does the work?

Also, that is one issue that I’d like her to do better on.
Let’s assume we both also care about ICE. Haley is getting accountability for ICE, independent oversight, unmasking, inspecting facilities. Mallory is getting them out of schools, hospitals, and courthouses. What is Abdul doing to stop ICE?

I stated that she needs to keep up with her constituency in my initial post. We agree.
But why is our district so safely blue? Who made it that way? How did we get to the point that any Dem could just walk into this seat when it was exactly the opposite 8 years ago?

And Haley and Andy BOTH would have won!

Thank you for that work. Nobody wants to credit the people (you’re right, usually women) who make these wins possible. Julia never won our districts (pre-redistricting) but she made Republicans work and pay for seats they were used to strolling into. She helped turn this district blue.

The other lie is that Haley Stevens primaried Andy Levin and kicked out an incumbent.
When our new nonpartisan district maps made districts competitive, Levin left his formerly safe seat for Haley’s seat that she flipped. SHE was the incumbent in OUR district, which SHE flipped and MADE safe.

Thank you! Fake progressives continuously gaslight me about what happened in my own district. Dave Trott didn’t run because Stevens jumped in early and showed she was going to put up a fight. He hadn’t had to work to keep his seat before. She MADE this a blue district.

What Lisa doesn’t say is that our state of Michigan only recently gave control of the district maps back to the voters. For decades our districts were drawn by the majority party in the state legislature, so for 40 years, our purple state had a gridlocked Republican legislature by their own design.

If only someone could have warned them earlier… 🙄

That’s absolutely fair to point out the hypocrisy. But I think the focus of the question is about abuse being covered up and Johnson deflected and distracted with affairs that are embarrassing rather than abuse which is criminal.

Abdul has always tried to fashion himself as the next Obama or the next Mamdani. He likens himself to them directly. Yeah, Michigan’s generals are a totally different game than NYC’s primaries.

I don’t know what he’s said about McMorrow. I remember how he ran against Whitmer. He’s always run nasty. Dude is toxic. He runs scorched earth, gutter politics, say and do anything to win. It didn’t work last time. Hopefully we can reject his toxicity once and for all.
