US Central Command has published a video said to show a guided-missile destroyer firing at an Iranian-flagged cargo ship near the Strait of Hormuz.

The USS Spruance fired several rounds into the Touska's engine room for 'violating the US blockade', before marines boarded it.

RIP.
Yet another 'car' killed someone. We will never stop road deaths if we can't even say that a 'driver' killed someone.

'Person dead after being shot by bullet'
'Person dead after being stabbed by knife'

We simply refuse to accept that driving carries responsibility.

I’ve be involved in various capacities in counter disinformation and counter hate speech activity on Irish online spaces for over 8 years.

I have never witness anything as bad as the abuse directed at Senator Eileen Flynn… it’s gamergate levels of targeted & coordinated harassment.

“Almost every opinion poll in a host of countries shows that a majority of people hold a negative view of the US. We are running scared of what its more or less unhinged leader may do next, either by seeking to impose a dictatorship at home, or by unleashing further violence abroad.”

It’s been a while but I’m revisiting my blog to share some work we have been doing with NIPNP. More case studies to follow in coming weeks but here’s a bit of ‘why we do what we do’…

The real cost of cheap goods and fast delivery. They are accused of preventing staff from assisting or performing cpr and requiring workers to continue on while a man lay on the floor. imagine the moral trauma to all involved.

Any government that isn't right now accelerating plans to transition to 100% clean, renewable energy is either:

a. Incompetent
b. In the pockets of people who'd rather they didn't
c. a & b

Imagine converting to Catholicism and believing that it means you get to tell the Vatican and the Pope what they may or may not talk about.

They usually say 'grant'.

If the UK union is by consent not compulsion, then why are Scots not permitted to decide for themselves whether or not they want a referendum? Instead they must seek permission from a parliament outside Scotland composed of MPs who are overwhelmingly from England.

The TD should be named.

All who gave references should be named.

Anyone giving references for sex offenders should forfeit the right to stand for election to any position of authority.

The "Century of Humiliation" of China by western powers may have been forgotten in the West, but it's a central part of their education system and modern self-image. If the idea is to strongarm them into pressing the Iranians to capitulate then I think the Americans will be sorely disappointed.

You wouldn't need to be a trade or international relations guru to predict that the Chinese government isn't going to sit back while the US blockades 40% of China's oil and potentially boards and impounds ships carrying their property.

If she gets the compensation she's owed from the Irish state, because it's a different country it will count towards the means test for her housing benefit which she needs in order to be able to continue to live independently as she ages. Her twin brother in Ireland was able to get his full payment.

What's net zero is the number of fuel protest spokespeople condemning:
-the racism being spread at their protests
- the attacks on Muslim Sisters of Éire soup run volunteers on O'Connell St
- the fuel protest spokesperson who says he has no problem with a woman being raped and beaten

Have to say, I'm losing a lot of respect for local Sinn Féin TDs for saying the government should meet these wealthy "protestors" holding the country hostage while they block fuel and people going to medical appointments. #Spéirgorm

Full text of an Instagram post tonight from the ever-heroic Muslim Sisters of Éire, whose experience of racist abuse whilst feeding the homeless people of Dublin tonight just goes to prove the fascist forces that are driving Ireland’s “fuel protests.”

We’ve spent the last 48 hours coordinating the logistics and prep work necessary to get our soup run stationed at the GPO. When we got to the top of O’Connell Street, the Guards wouldn’t allow us to go through, but after much persuasion, they escorted us with a patrol car up to the GPO. Given the current situation, we truly appreciate them assisting us despite having their hands full.
We arrived and were surprised that the queue was not as large as expected. When we got there, a lot of people thought that we wouldn’t be able to get through. Soon the word got out and the queue became much longer.
Everything went well; we had a lot of food and donations. A huge shout out to little Amelia who came to our office and donated €50 from her birthday money as well as her Easter eggs—such kindness and beauty in such a young child. A credit to her mammy and daddy.
Tonight took a deeply upsetting turn. As we were finishing our service, we were approached by a group of five or six individuals carrying Irish flags. They began shouting xenophobic rhetoric, telling us this country is "only for the Irish," that we don't belong here, and that we should "go home."
In a beautiful show of solidarity, those around the GPO immediately spoke up, asserting that we are Irish. However, the situation turned hostile. Our Chairperson and founder was targeted with verbal abuse and told to "go back where she came from"—despite being from Coolock. It was clear that because she wears a hijab, her identity as an Irish woman was being questioned.

n 11 years of service, we have never experienced such verbal abuse. It was difficult to maintain the peace, but the homeless community—truly amazing people—stepped up to protect us. We are grateful that the situation eventually de-escalated and the Gardaí arrived to disperse the group.
Providing 300 meals to those in need only to be met with hate is sickening. But let it be known: we remain undeterred. We are united, and we will always be there for the less fortunate, regardless of their background. In Ireland, you don’t need an ID to receive a warm meal from a soup run.
We can’t do this without your constant support. If you would like to help us or donate, please visit https://msoe.ie/donate/.

I turned autoplay off on social media a long time ago because the way my head is wired makes the sudden sound and motion very agitating. The other benefit is it reduces the likelihood of being exposed to stuff like this posted by maniacs. It's accompanied by a very long unhinged racist rant.
