Palantir’s deranged manifesto shows why it should be nowhere near our public services.
This is not a normal company, it's Trump's favourite tech firm and a danger to our NHS.

Very significant report - there have been over 100 applications by data centre developers to connect to the UK's gas grid.
How can the UK Govt allow the construction of a new generation of fossil gas power by Big Tech, while sticking to its climate targets?

Good piece summarising the reasons we shouldn't have Palantir in our public services - including points raised by MPs & groups including @foxglovelegal.bsky.social & @bma.org.uk
This quote is worth remembering as the Govt considers whether to renew Palantir's contract:
'[Palantir's Louis] Mosley said that, if Reform won the next general election with a “clear public mandate” to allow NHS data to be used for immigration enforcement, then the company would execute the plan'
If Liz Kendall wants me to embrace AI, she can fix what’s wrong with it and stop talking about it as if a trillion dollar surveillance/kill-list engine sucking down as much energy as a new industrialised country and appropriating billions of pounds‘ worth of labour is a lost kitten.
'The NHS analytics official had made no secret of his concerns about Palantir’s Federated Data Platform...Then he received a phone call that caught him off guard: “If you criticise the FDP one more time, you are going to lose your job.”'

Amazon is currently - with the Govt's encouragement - working on vast new data centres in the UK which will hugely increase in climate emissions.
Meanwhile, they're fighting to shroud their climate harm in secrecy:

Did BBC radio 4 #Today programme really just do a whole package about drilling in the N Sea without once even mentioning #climate change? And not having anyone challenging the one-sided claims of former BP boss? So irresponsible #bbcr4today

Ministers consider triggering the break clause in Palantir's NHS contract. They should. Palantir has no place in the NHS. @justtreatment.org @labourlewis.bsky.social @foxglovelegal.bsky.social
The 'green' fuel market supplying Europe with used cooking oil, appears to be rife with fraud.
An investigation by SVT has uncovered that the world's largest producer of biofuel for aviation, Neste, is likely receiving virgin palm oil instead of recycled frying oil.
Maybe, just maybe, we should listen more to these people, rather than venture capitalists and investors who pass themselves off as tech specialists.

Good to see growing parliamentary criticism of the Govt's alarming fondness for Palantir. Why are ministers so keen to hand yet more influence to a Trump-supporting billionaire who doesn't like democracy?
You start to wonder: what would Palantir need to do to stop the UK Govt happily signing more and more contracts with them?
Interestingly, DSIT seem to have deleted the document containing their dubious estimates on AI emissions since @carbonbrief.org reported on it this morning - at time of writing it's no longer here: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/687f74...
...The proposed Elsham data centre will cause 1 million tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2033, according to its own developers. And it's just one of many.
So how does the UK Govt come up with a claim that all "AI compute" in the UK will cause just 142,000 tCO2e by 2035?
