New 3-D Study of the Greenland Ice Sheet Shows Glaciers Falling Apart Faster Than Expected - Inside Climate News Crevasses are widening faster as meltwater drives fissures deeper into the ice and lubricates the base of glaciers, increasing concerns about how quickly their melting will raise sea levels.

Increased crevassing across accelerating Greenland Ice Sheet margins - Nature Geoscience Greenland-wide observations of crevasse volume and distribution suggest substantial increases in crevassing between 2016 and 2021 at marine-terminating sectors with accelerating ice flow.

Between 2018 and 2021, KIV Steenstrup Nordre Bræ in Greenland retreated 7 km and quadrupled in velocity. It's now in the top 10% of glaciers contributing to Greenland's discharge. Our new paper in Nature Comms:
