How can anyone do anything else today besides watch 4 astronauts fly by the Moon today? Historic, and the start of bigger things to come from various space agencies around the world. A big marker of the new space race.

As a ‘book scientist’ I work with microscopes, imaging technologies and AI to preserve ancient texts Book science helps decipher and preserve fragile manuscripts, at a moment when climate change and mass digitization are reshaping cultural heritage work.

Book scientists are working tirelessly with an array of technologies — including microscopes, multispectral imaging & artificial intelligence — to recover, understand & preserve many valuable ancient texts. theconversation.com/as-a-book-sc... #AI #SciComm #STEAM #history #SciChat

A new kind of fingerprint Exciting developments in genomics are helping us track diseases with precision. Are the benefits worth the moral risks?

With rapid advances in pathogen genomics, how do we leverage this technology to prevent disease while simultaneously protecting people from privacy violations, unfair discrimination, and other moral wrongs?

Longitudinal Trends in Tissue-related Adverse Events after Corneal Transplantation Corneal transplantation is the most commonly performed tissue transplant procedure in the United States and among the most successful.1 To minimize risk and prevent adverse outcomes, strict guidelines and criteria are in place for donor evaluation, tissue recovery, and tissue preparation. They are continuously updated in accordance with the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) medical standards. Eye banks are responsible for ensuring seronegative status for a panel of transmissible diseases and for discarding donor tissue for several infectious and systemic diseases that may affect tissue suitability for surgical use.

He dug a wine cellar, found a taste for it, and kept going for forty years. His tunnels ran sixty feet in every direction. The clay had to go somewhere, so it went into the rooms above. William Lyttle: the man who traded his house for a hole.
