Re-reading Bill Mollison's "Permaculture Designer's Manual" and was struck by what he articulates as the Prime Directive of Permaculture:
"The only ethical decision is to take responsibility for our own existence and that of our children. Make it now."
I highly recommend people check them out directly and not take my word for it. The book excellently covers different kinds of data colonialism, and has a powerful chapter on what to do to resist, as well as a damning chapter about what if we don't.
In regards to the recent coup efforts by the fascist actors going by the title of DOGE, I'm reminded of the excellent work "Data Grab" by @ulises-mejias.bsky.social and @couldrynick.bsky.social.
Their book excellently lays out what the consequences of such actions are, and what we can do to resist

I hope we can give our children the tools they need to move forward, and face what is coming.
And despite the best efforts of some, we live in a world that has and is failing them. More than ever, I find myself teaching students for the sake of giving them something, anything, that might be useful to them in the future, or the now.
I think about it a lot when I talk to students and children. When I have to look them in the eyes and admit that things aren't getting better right away. That there are people with the power and desire to hurt them.
