Man, I can tell I'm so far down the Project Moon brainrot hole that I focused on the background first.

Love the work!

Stop Collective Shout - Defending Digital Freedom

Saw this on the itchio subreddit, so sharing it here:

It's tiring to hear the same things, but I urge you to keep making your voice heard. From what I understand, companies typically need at least a 1-2 week disruption in calls to start considering changes.

Tom Lehrer was my grandfather's favourite artist, and I grew up listening to a bunch of his songs. Just yesterday, I used his Kissinger quote.

He will be dearly missed.

Valve just updated their Steam rules to ban content that “may violate rules set by payment processors or banks.” Sounds boring. It’s not. It’s the quiet normalization of financial censorship and it’s going to hurt LGBTQ+ games and devs

4 frame comic. The text reads : This morning, the American Supreme court ruled that gender affirming care bans for minors were constitutional. The ruling found that these bans weren't discriminating on the basis of sex, despite the fact that most procedures involved were developed for cis patients and still legal for them. This ruling will allow 25 states to go through with their bans. roughly 119 000 trans youth live in these states. the ruling was released moments after it was announced that the US national suicide hotline would stop giving the option for callers to connect with experts on lgbtq+ mental health. Stephie says : American LGBTQ+ youth can still call the trevor project hotline 24/7.

Today is a particularly good day to support trans mutual aid as a concrete way to fight back against the fuckers trying to take their healthcare and other rights away.

Kids Online Safety Act reintroduced in Senate. Advocates fear it'll block LGBTQ+ content online. - LGBTQ Nation Supporters say it has protections for free speech, but others worry platforms will block content to comply.

hi, folks!

KOSA’s back in congress. the project 2025 people want KOSA to pass & openly say they’ll use it to attack abortion & LGBTQ people. it's also got a lot of democratic support.

2 other censorship bills—IODA & SCREEN—are up, too. all must be stopped.

long thread! call scripts at the end.🧵

It's not just the US. Right-wing fascism is on the rise all over the world.

You can't run from it. You need to organize and fight it.

Here is the grad speech that NYU is now withholding the student's diploma for:

"As I search my heart today in addressing you all…the only thing that is appropriate to say in this time and to a group this large is a recognition of the atrocities currently happening in Palestine."

Andrew Cuomo was confronted with the proof that he covered up the number of people who died from COVID-19 due to his executive order.

His response? "Who cares? They died."

Don't rank Andrew Cuomo for mayor. #DREAM

Scouted out my spot, and I think I know where to get some willow cuttings. I loved my willow fence back home, and I'm excited to start a new one. The growth it promotes around it is always wonderful too!

Starting next week, I'm beginning a project to start reclaiming a grass lot near my work. It seems to just be mown and used for nothing else; a blank space behind a building next to a public parking lot.

I've already been surveying local plants to try and create a profile of restoration.

The best time for building communities was years ago, but the second best time is now.

Network with those at your job, or in your community. Put yourself out there and meet new people who are willing to act.

Even if it's something small, that can make all the difference.

Once again, the Woodburn board proves that they are plagued by lackies with no spines, no convictions, and a deficit of morality.

We all know who has to go.

American support for Ukraine should not depend on access to 'rare metals'.

Self-determination should not depend on whether you have value to extract for the global market. Ukraine should not have to choose between giving up the land they live on in any sense of the word.

Re-reading Bill Mollison's "Permaculture Designer's Manual" and was struck by what he articulates as the Prime Directive of Permaculture:

"The only ethical decision is to take responsibility for our own existence and that of our children. Make it now."

I highly recommend people check them out directly and not take my word for it. The book excellently covers different kinds of data colonialism, and has a powerful chapter on what to do to resist, as well as a damning chapter about what if we don't.

In regards to the recent coup efforts by the fascist actors going by the title of DOGE, I'm reminded of the excellent work "Data Grab" by @ulises-mejias.bsky.social and @couldrynick.bsky.social.

Their book excellently lays out what the consequences of such actions are, and what we can do to resist

The rest of the scene goes: "It is not a childish fantasy. It can be a real weapon against what's coming for you now."

"What is...?"

"Nothing, if you got this. Don't be scared."

I hope we can give our children the tools they need to move forward, and face what is coming.

And despite the best efforts of some, we live in a world that has and is failing them. More than ever, I find myself teaching students for the sake of giving them something, anything, that might be useful to them in the future, or the now.

I think about it a lot when I talk to students and children. When I have to look them in the eyes and admit that things aren't getting better right away. That there are people with the power and desire to hurt them.
