The Museum of Flight in Seattle has a lovely patio next to their cafeteria that overlooks the test runway. My granddaughter liked the museum, but the real treat was eating a burger and watching different types of plane take off and land every five minutes!

I’m not a professional writer, but when I have to produce something, I tell myself I’m just weaving the cloth that I will cut and stitch later to make the actual thing. So just keep that shuttle flying back and forth; it will all get assembled later.

Can you tell I sew more than I write?😉

I had a man angrily storm out of a meeting when I pointed out it was a tested technology. He muttered “Fauci should be in jail” and stomped away.

MAGA has a lot to answer for.

In El Dorado AR , there is a lovely little Carnegie library. 40 years ago the head librarian was a key figure in my son’s life; for example, she brought in all 14 Oz books (in order).

When he (5 y.o.) got a light-up bow tie, the librarian was the very first person he wanted to show it to.

Indeed. Every two hours is a new day these days.

Also, I did not jump to family members from “group chat”.

I’m sorry. I meant it in a humorous way but I can see it didn’t come across like that. Would you like me to delete the comment.

I forgot to mention, 20 pound ORANGE cat.

Somehow my parenting had not included “don’t flip a 20 pound cat over on its back to scratch its tummy”

To be fair my son was young and we had only ever had dogs at home.
But we counted 23 claw marks. 🙀😿

What about Langston? My son’s cello teacher had a cat named Langston and that cat was a badass. And my son has the scars to prove it.

THEY ARE LYING.

That is the only possible explanation consistent with reality.

ARC. He wants an ARC. Just like the French have. L’arc deTrumphe.

You should be allowed to poke directly in the eye any doctor who just blithely tells you to “reduce stress”.

Translation is a form of creation. The translator has to make decisions about preserving style over direct content, about cultural equivalence, about how to preserve a sense of pun or sentence structure from one language to the next. People who assume an LLM can do it are not understanding the task.

My grandmother delighted in telling people she still had all her own teeth. With a twinkle in her eye. 🦷🤩

To be fair, for someone born in 1897 having all your own teeth at 90 years old WAS quite the accomplishment.

I’m sure I scarred my children for life. My sewing scissors lived in a box labeled with a skull and crossbones and the motto:

☠️ CUT PAPER AND DIE ☠️

Why is this an issue?
Seriously, what did I miss that this issue became part of the conversation?

I was maybe 4 or 5 years old. I remember wandering up and down the hall counting out loud as it was he first day I was able to count to a hundred. I was really upset no one was paying attention.

My other memory-a 5 gallon can of Wesson oil he bought for the end of the world and it lasted FOREVER .
