The proportion of women editors is projected to remain low

There was childcare at (back then) ECCMID in 2023 and it was great pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37863354/
Disappointing that this seems to depend on the venue (?) or organizational capacities (?).
Great to see at #ESCMIDglobal2025 4 out 9 keynote lectures being held by women and gender balanced achieved in terms of invited faculty.
Keep in mind that giving a talk at ESCMIDglobal creates more visibility/ is more prestigious than chairing a session.

I tried to collect my poster with my toddler on my arm — no chance. Couldn’t even trespass the hallway between Hall A and Hall D to get there.
You may have noticed this on the floor when entering #ESCMIDglobal2025.
Yes, still a - no kids - policy at ESCMID Gobal, that hasn‘t changed since 2019, when we wrote this pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31204154/
I gave a talk on writing comments today for which I included a list of comments an editor (I👋) is unlikely to accept:
-Overly dismissive (this is all wrong and I am right OR, even worse, everyone else is stupid, and I'm brilliant)
-Self promotion (but look at MY paper)

Infectious diseases is not only about the latest trials and big cohort studies.
So, here is a list of my favourite pieces that you might missed from The Lancet Infectious Diseases in 2024 that reflect on the field at large, in no specific order.
