Police say charges will be filed against adults 'who stood by' during shooting in North Carolina park Police in North Carolina plan to charge adults "who stood by" during Monday morning's deadly shooting in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. (WFMY)

Its interesting that regular people can be charged for "standing by" during a shooting, but cops can't (thinking of Uvalde)

Bless their little loser hearts, Virginia constitutional amendments first have to pass the full legislature twice before they ever go before voters

Remember, Democrats have repeatedly advanced measures to ban partisan gerrymandering and Republicans have voted against them time after time.

This is the game Republicans wanted to play. OK, then.

The Washington Post Editorial Board was fine with Republicans gerrymandering in Texas.

But when Democrats responded in Virginia, it’s a “power grab” that “plunges America deeper into the gerrymandering abyss.”

I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals

MAGA oligarchs hold every lever of federal power and have purchased almost every media outlet and social platform of consequence and despite all that they still can't make their cultural reset happen. They fundamentally are selling a shit product nobody wants.

My take on The West is if you tell someone you did a PhD in medieval Arabic poetry and they give you a blank stare you may be taking to a Westerner.

So the whole thing comes down to the pope denying that Jesus was pro-war? Is this why I keep seeing reports that Leo and Trump are
"feuding"?
Yes, but that framing, which is all over the media, is totally wrong. Leo and Trump aren't "feuding," and Trump did not "hit back," "strike back," or "return fire" against the pope. Trump has repeatedly launched unprovoked military actions that he and his lieutenants have attempted to cloak in the language of Christian righteousness. The pope has said that Christian righteousness is incompatible with unprovoked war. Trump has publicly mocked, derided, and attacked the pope; the pope hasn't attacked Trump at all.
A feud requires the participation of two people. If you say, "We should respect the sovereignty of each individual, for we are all children of God," and I say,
"Fuck you, you dirty hippie," what we have is not a feud. What we have is a principled person trying to have a conversation with an asshole.

Seven Theses Against Viewpoint Diversity Demands for “viewpoint diversity,” a pillar of the Right’s strategy to remake higher education, collide with the pursuit of truth.

calls for “viewpoint diversity” are little more than demands for a quota system for political conservatives who otherwise could not hack it www.aaup.org/academe/issu...

The other important item from the reporting is that the APOs/the military postal addresses in theater, have been turned off indefinitely. Meaning no care packages, no mail, nothing can be received. That's a morale killer. The people in charge of this mess couldn't organize an orgy in a whorehouse.

Senator Wyden can’t say it plainly without losing his security clearance, but this raises the alarm that Kash & crew have decided they can illegally surveil Americans without a warrant.

Unfortunately, without Access, Basing, & Overflight (ABO) & contested air space w/in the Gulf states, this is exceedingly difficult. If they can't get the supplies to theater, can't buy local, there's no supplies to get out to the ships.

An Israel-Lebanon ceasefire is a weird thing to tout, since Lebanon isn't a combatant. There is no Lebanese fire for the Lebanese government to cease.
