Feel like it should be a bigger story that Howard Lutnick's firm (run by his kids) created a financial product to buy up tariff refund claims at a major discount, and will now be cashing in on the higher costs passed onto consumers.

Andre the Giant is getting a historical marker in North Carolina on Thursday, near where he owned a ranch. If you go, sniff the air. You might inhale some of Andre the Giant because his ashes were spread there, too.

The Jackson estate can't hide Leaving Neverland from those who've already seen it A suppressive legal battle turned the moving Sundance documentary Leaving Neverland into a ghost haunting the Michael Jackson biopic.

I will never forget the experience of seeing LEAVING NEVERLAND at its Sundance premiere. For @avclub.com I wrote about a devastating, definitive documentary about surviving sexual abuse that cannot be erased.

A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief.

The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."

The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.

When Traffic Violence Hits The Same Family Twice — Years Apart, On Exactly the Same Street — Streetsblog USA The deaths of a Colorado married couple has some mourning an eerie coincidence — and others outraged at two predictable tragedies that could have been prevented.

I would love to know how many U.S. families have lost multiple members to traffic violence, especially in separate crashes. Because this is not the first story on a husband and wife dying in exactly the same place that I've reported, and unless something changes, it definitely won't be the last.

Most DC drivers aren't actually *seeking* our violent deaths. But an uncomfortably large fraction is solidly *indifferent* to our violent deaths.

I think this could go a long way to discourage terms that last until you’re dead. Which are not required, after all! Retiring at a regular retirement age is very normal and is allowed under the Constitution! We don’t have to make it the cushiest job on the planet. Fewer perks -> better judges.

shouldn't be allowed to choose their own clerks, shouldn't be allowed to accept fees for speaking or prize money or awards. shouldn't be able to get book deals, etc. etc. if what you want is to be famous, well, no one is forcing you to be a supreme court justice.

John Roberts is and always has been Sam Alito with better PR

he has declared himself and his fellow republican justices the unelected rulers of America and they have wielded their power in favor of making Donald Trump of all people untouchable

the court as it exists today must be broken

At Pentagon worship service today, Pete Hegseth again read a violent prayer to bless the Iran war. But this time his prayer was apparently borrowed from 'Pulp Fiction.' I promise I'm not writing for @theonion.com now:

This is excellent by Boyle. What CBO and others have pointed out is that millions of eligible claimants will lose vital health care coverage because of administrative burdens. By design! That is the purpose of the bill. It does not target fraud. It just weaponizes burdens against the public.
