When appreciation takes the place of expectation, our whole perspective shifts.

The best things in life are on the other side of something difficult.
Don’t complain about the results you didn’t get from the work you didn’t put in.
When we make mistakes, we call them accidents. When others make mistakes, we call them choices.
Perspective shifts everything. Let’s lead with empathy.
Things that don’t require talent:
✅ Good attitude
✅ Effort
✅ Kindness
But show these things in each aspect of your life and watch what it brings you.
What if we reimagined how we work with struggling kids by starting with what they know versus focusing on what they don’t? So often in remediation and tutoring groups we’re aiming to fill in deficit gaps instead of building off of existing knowledge.
I think one of the most powerful things we can ask ourselves as educators is “How do we know what we know?” Multiples sources of data helps validate and support our assumed knowledge.
AI did not create cheaters. Academic dishonesty has been going on for centuries, AI is just the newest way for them to do it.

"A young leader's ability to do the right thing comes from a moral compass that is ever-developing through experiences, lessons, and knowledge." - @adamdovico.bsky.social & @toddnesloney.bsky.social in #WhenKidsLead
How are we providing these opportunities for students?

Two year anniversary of three memorable words: “Congratulations Dr. Dovico”
I believe student leadership can be broken down into three important tenants:
1️⃣ Trust
2️⃣ Opportunity
3️⃣ Training
When we as adults can offer kids these three things, we open doors for inspiring, empowering, and growing young leaders.

The image is a screenshot from The Athletic, featuring a headline and a photograph of a football field. The headline reads: “NFL to remove ‘End Racism’ messaging in end zone ahead of Super Bowl: Sources”, written by Michael Silver and published on February 4, 2025, at 7:04 AM. The accompanying photograph shows the end zone of a football field prepared for Super Bowl LVIII. The end zone is painted with the Kansas City Chiefs’ branding, including the team’s logo on a white background, the word “CHIEFS” in bold red letters, and the phrase “END RACISM” written in green capital letters along the yellow portion of the end zone. The stadium seating in the background is mostly empty, with a few staff members and security personnel scattered along the sideline. There are also banners with “SUPER BOWL LVIII” visible along the stadium walls.
Imagine being so feckless that you’ll capitulate in advance to a bullying autocrat and take down your half-hearted, bare-minimum performative messaging against racism.
NFL really covering themselves in glory here.
K-12 educators out there, how are you currently using AI in your classroom to enhance student learning? Working on something with a colleague, so your answers are appreciated.
If this isn’t the best birthday gift, I don’t know what is. I will always cherish these types of messages.
Teachers, we have the most magical powers. We can quiet down an entire room with just a few claps and strike fear with a simple look, never saying a word. Make a C feel like the greatest grade in the world and an A- feel like you could have done better.
Had our first outdoor soccer practice tonight for the spring season. Spring consisted of 28° and ice on the turf. The adults froze, the kids would have stayed out there for another two hours. I miss being a kid.
Some spend their day hoping it’ll be good. I go in knowing it’s going to be great. Attitude is everything.
Fact checking is not censorship.
It's an essential public service.
Disinformation kills. Period.
I never thought I'd be able to say I was a published #author, much less someone who has had 6 books published.
Each book holds a place dear in my heart as I poured all of me into them. I hope they bring something special to you too!
I'd be honored if you checked one of them out today!

As students and staff return to school this week, be mindful of the class conversations. Talking about “what they got for Christmas” can be uncomfortable for some.
I look back at 2024 as a successful year. One of the biggest feats I accomplished was focusing more on self care.
I have better accepted that SELF-CARE is not SELFISH.
My one word for 2025: Disruptor
I could hear the respect in their voices for a man who cared deeply about those around him and what he aimed to do to help the world.
RIP President Carter
While we walked the museum, the workers there kept complimenting how kind and generous he was, even at that time in his older years (around 88 at the time). Many had met him several times over the years working there.
A Jimmy Carter story … while working at Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, I took a group of students to the Jimmy Carter Museum. We pulled up and caught a glimpse of Pres Carter leaving the building after an event. While we never got to meet him, I’ll never forget the smile and wave he gave the kids.
