Beyond that its doing something to make the city/school district notice/ be specifically annoying to them, but that is a long game i imagine you're already playing.

That can be harder with other public roadways, but it still stands, somehow making the road narrower is the easiest and safest bet. Even putting out those old city no parking signs can work.

Obviously i can't officially recommend that but the odds of anyone having a problem with it are super low.

There are other ways to make roads narrower without annoying anyone- if you're talking about your own street, putting pots/raised beds/ things that are large but technically movable in your right of way give the illusion of narrowness that has been shown to make drivers slow down.

There are loads of stories out there of people doing gorilla traffic calming, and inevitably it becomes a fight where the city is constantly undoing whatevers done, a battle that no one wins. But thats bc they are trying to recreate road markings, signs, speed bumps that all have to be to code.

Alright, so the most effective traffic calming measure is to make the road narrower, so in the engineering world that means taking more of the streetscape away from cars and giving some to a sidewalk, planting, protected bike lanes etc. But i know that is not a fast process.
