Bill Maher seems to be one of the main people who has a hard time knowing when Bill Maher is telling a joke.
It's our responsibility, both as people who care and as funny little guys, to make sure people who do harmful shit feel bad about doing harmful shit. If they're left to their own devices they might not realize that everyone thinks they suck. They'll just keep doing it, unless we make it annoying.
Quite frankly, voting for the people that will make our lives better will make their lives better too, anyway. It's not our fault they don't understand that. Doesn't matter if they're bigots or just hoodwinked - overruling them is actually the kindest thing we can do for them in the short term.
Consider this, too: the best thing I can do to prioritize the well-being of the white working class is to vote for progressive candidates who will make their lives better, even if the white working class doesn't believe that.
Voting against their *candidate* is not voting against their needs.
