The people who think they’re carrying on this tradition are no longer deconstructing the establishment because they’ve become the norm thanks to the establishment platforming them, but they can’t (or won’t) acknowledge their insider status. It’s all gimmicks, no substance.
Phase Two internet culture (which the millennials are largely responsible for) involved things like YouTube Poops and anti-comedy, formats which, when done well & intelligently, exposed the artifice of old media. But old media is dead now!
A hugely important distinction, here.
