A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

“I’m tired of being pitted against my neighbor. I’m tired of being told to hate my neighbor.”

@jamestalarico.bsky.social’s #CupOfJoe is dialed-in. Our future depends on rejecting the politics of hate and choosing a path that heals, unites, & rebuilds. 🔗 tinyurl.com/2kb9wzax

Why Juno Beach Still Matters - And What It Demands of Us Today It was 81 years ago today that Canadians stormed the beaches of Normandy.

At Juno Beach I realized that the democratic values that I had taken for granted didn't just happen.
They were paid for at an immense cost of lives and sacrifice.
Would we be willing to pay the same sacrifice if the darkness descended again?
My reflection on June 6.

Carney commits to admitting his mistakes openly and to learning from them quickly.
That could be a *very* big change from his predecessor... (Or anyone in politics, really). If, of course, he actually follows through with it.
