I've got my buttons in a Cadbury chocolate tin, plus my Mum's, Aunt's, Granny's (and possibly Great-Gran's) as well as both Nanny's and Granny's sewing boxes. My cousin has my Great-Gran's sewing box, no more room in my house!

Yes. Having just started working I didn't quite have enough to buy a ticket on the last trips they did, my friend got one and took his Mum, I've never been so jealous in my life. I couldn't speak to him for weeks.

It was at 12 years old simultaneously the most excited and the most sea sick I've ever been in my life

The Dickin Medal is the highest award that can be issued to animals in British military service. Bearing the words "We Also Serve" it has been awarded 75 times since its creation in 1943.

Only one cat has ever received the award.

This is the story of Able Seacat Simon, of HMS Amethyst. 🧡 1/25

My goal is to not stop walking between entering the airport and sitting in my seat on the aircraft. You have won at "Airport" if you manage that

Packing?

Oh dear. If I have to stop waking between arriving at the airport and sitting in my seat on board I was there too early...

So sorry Adam. Mum's prognosis was 6-12 months. She was furious, I was just relieved it wasn't weeks.

She made it 7 months.

Pancreatic cancer is awful. This vaccine would be extraordinary.

The original version of "It Must Be Love" was a revelation on Black Music at #BBC

I didn't realise Madness's version was a cover, joyous as it is, Labi Siffre's original is extraordinary.

I mean he died two months after brexit happened so he hasn't seen the mess it's turned into, but everything is so much more controlled now. It's impossible to just turn up and request a resident permit like they did.

Utterly Betrayed
Β
The Rt Hon. Ralph St John Cholmondley
having moped around glolmondley
for three weeks in Belvoir with glandular felvoir,
decided to surprise his fiancΓ© in Frome.
Β
Bursting into the rome, he found her
cavorting with an awick from Hawick
(via Worcester), whose close attentions
had left her all of a florcester.
Β
His fiancΓ©, who hailed from Beaulieu,
begged him not to get upset undeaulieu,
as Ralph stared at them, boggle-eyed.
Things aren’t how they look, she cried.

It was my Mum's sudden obsession with Meghan that put me on to her starting to read the DM.

"But why do you care?" was a very effective question with a follow up of, "I'm completely uninterested in what they're doing, what have you been up to?"

Already went through it with Dad over Brexit, when I live in πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί with two non πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ children because Mum and Dad were living abroad when I was born πŸ™„

Annoyingly it just cemented the leave position for him as "we did it in the 70s and it was fine".

Mum (Silent generation) used to get DM "for the TV guide". Once I persuaded her to start getting Radio Times her obsession with Meghan and immigrants suddenly disappeared.

I found asking qns rather than arguing was effective.

I didn't like to mention it! Most of us are just jealous though...

Seriously though, I did eventually come to enjoy the quiet evenings sitting with my first hoping he might at some point sleep

Now he's 15 we have the opposite problem!

I was about to write a misery post about my first's sleep habit, but you what, enjoy it, remember that it might just be a phase so don't be distressed if next week is different, because the week after will be different again.

Most of all enjoy every second! Day or night!!

I'm now fluent and one reason is a very smart colleague who told me to really commit to speaking French. Go for it, go for the accent, go for the slang, try stuff, ask questions and try again. How would a French person pronounce that English word? Pronounce it like that.

1st job in France had πŸ‡«πŸ‡· colleague very sniffy about my French. Corrected everything I said until I gave up & spoke πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ to him (not against learning but impossible to get a sentence out).

He signed every email "I dully hope this answers your request" and every single time I had a little snigger

This sounds like my favourite ever birthday cake my parents made for me when I was 4 or 5 (sans rum I presume, even if it was the 80s). I can still taste coconut icing now

I will have to make this and check against my memory

Honestly it's the best age to fly with them. They're portable, not too heavy and relatively easy to get to sleep with some milk.

Bon voyage !

Ooooh very nice.

I inherited our old B&W TV and would stay up late at night watching snooker on it! And Dave Allen.
