Mandy Gunasekara Paid @MississippiMG This is an amazing turn by @washingtonpost . Great job by WH/EPA press team that worked this piece. Finally some sanity 👉 “For now, free-market-driven innovation has done more to combat climate change than regulatory power grabs like the “endangerment finding” ever did.”

Once again, governments have failed to reach agreement on a treaty to reduce plastics pollution. The US, Russia, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries would not accept a deal that limitied plastic production. Others chose no deal over their bad deal.

I don't think it's because they're propagandists. I think that general news reporters don't have the knowledge and sources to quickly report that context. Getting the information about the climate context requires time that breaking news reporters don't have. Solution is programmes like this 👇
No mention of climate change (or fire service cuts) in this BBC article on a big fire in England. This failure is why all reporters - not just climate reporters - need knowledge of climate change.
Journalists need to say why things are happening

FWIW - Munich Re’s climate scientist s comments here make sense to me. Surely everything will always be insurable for a price? But, then again, if that price is too high for anyone to pay - because likelihood of disaster so high - then it’s basically uninsurable. So just semantics really
Ok thanks. Didn’t know that. But doesn’t seem likely that they’ll actually do that
The EU doesn't buy any energy and no intention to. Private companies based in EU countries do.
So a European Commission promise to buy US energy isn't worth much, is it?
But it allows Trump to tell his voters and fossil fuel financial backers that he got the EU to buy US gas.
