Yes, this! Strong, healthy, personal relationships in both the political and social realms are the key to strong movements and increased security.

This is organizing 101 and should be the priority when laying the groundwork of what's to come.

The law is not going to jump out the books and save us from people who are intent on destroying everything in their path and who are willing to kill us all in the process. Please understand this.

👇🎯 The problem with building your entire staff & business model around covering politics as theater/sporting events is that your entire staff/business model is completely unequipped for covering politics as policy/governance, or for dealing with a far right authoritarian party interested in neither.

Looking to start a new newspaper comprised of refugees from LAT, WaPo, NYT, & elsewhere. Our motto will be “Hold the Door.” We will fund it Robin Hood style, by robbing data centers, as soon as we figure out how.

Los Angeles-area people! Trying to compile a list of mutual aid groups/community kitchens/animal shelters/etc offering services or mobilizing to help those displaced by the fires. Let me know/send links and any info to donate.

It's not just Los Angeles. It's all of southern California, from Ventura to San Diego that's seeing off-the-charts wildfire risk right now.

The worst case scenario Wednesday is 85mph winds fueling simultaneous urban firestorms across the entire region.

Kash Patel once said he would 'come after' journalists. It now hangs over his FBI candidacy. Trump's pick for FBI director has vowed to "come after" the media. But he also later emphasized to NBC News that his comments apply only if people "broke the law."

"Now that Patel is in the running to head one of the most powerful agencies in the U.S. government, the question of whether he will really 'come after' journalists is troubling both sides of the aisle ..."

Texas has a violent Nazi problem, including Elon Musk.

I recommend supporting @texasobserver.org, they are a model for journalism in a fascist state.

Cover photo for the band Stray Cats self-titled album. Photo appears to be shot in an abandoned building. Pictures shows 3 punks from the 1980s, one standing in front of a cymbal and drum, one standing with a guitar slung over his back, one standing next to a stand up bass.

This is the guy Trump is installing as FCC chair.

The point here, IMO, is not that he’s going to go in and start yanking licenses.

But by saying things like this he can intimidate broadcasters into covering the Trump administration more favorably.

Book Bans Harm Kids Censoring what children read deprives them of reality and the chance to feed their curiosity and develop empathy

"Book bans go against the very nature of an open, civil society. Whether through the legal system, the ballot box or our voices, we must uphold educational freedom and support knowledge. We must stop the censoring of books."

Out of the Ashes Democratic failure gave rise to the second round of Trumpism. Collective action is the way out.

“It remains true that people cannot stand the denial of freedom, and that’s what’s on the menu. Cohering opposition and organizing together are the recipe not just to resist, but to win.”
