while i appreciate and agree with the sentiment, the notion that america’s legacy is just as poisoned as nazi germany’s is certainly not explicitly communicated by the OP’s post and is also not implied by the caption or the accompanying comic. genuinely, am i missing something?

you can just admit that you read something into the post that wasn’t there without getting lost in the weeds quibbling about which empire killed what amount of people in such and such a tragedy

far from saying “we’re the bad guys” and refusing to elaborate, i seem to remember a comic attached that, when considered alongside the OP’s caption, communicates to the reader that america has always been engaged in egregious acts of violence that are inherent to our national identity.

even so, i don’t understand how america’s moral rectitude relative to nazi germany and imperial japan is relevant to the OP’s point that america’s sins are not mimicry of some barbarous foreign culture but are, in fact, american in origin.
