Good news related to the house! Looks like I won't have to use as much of the $$ I saved for a down payment to have the roof here redone! Getting it scheduled & it's a huge weight off my chest. Been so upset that I overpaid so badly here that even a new kitchen didn't increase the value

If I can get eye surgery I think my life will be 1000X better. I can't image seeing clearly after 10+ yrs of declining vision (that seems to have ramped up over the past year). That's a BIGGIE for the ability to live completely independently!

It's Monday and I stress ate enough calories to sustain a very large lion over the weekend. Fingers crossed that when I finally get the roof done nothing unexpected is uncovered causing costs to skyrocket. Current guy seems much better than the last 3-will look from inside unfinished attic spaces

I only ever got to the point of a half marathon-didn't know before then how incredibly hard it is to run long distances. I get chills thinking of all the people who aren't natural runners who've trained/worked so hard to finish any marathon. Just incredible determination & willpower!

I should clarify that a big part of this is health care. I can't get to specialists because even being just 50 miles from the metro, there is no rideshare. I'm not on Medicare so there are no possible medical rides for surgery (checked & checked). AND my out of pocket for local care is now $7200/yr

Unfortunately they don't do that. You can have your roofer be there when the inspection is done, but that's the extent of it. Hoping this roofer is ok. If not, I did get an estimate from another company before the hail storm.

Welllll-it was either lower the price or pay for a new roof. Have a different roofer coming next week to take a look (someone my realtor has worked with before). Regrets moving here; I has them. I can honestly say that it's not really feasible to be a solo woman in a MN small town

Roofer shows up & starts w/$35K for "typical roof" now. I basically call BS since I have two ACTUAL quotes prior to the storm that were $13K and $18K. So tired of this crap. Will see what he quotes & wait for the insurance guy on Tues to assess storm damage & probably just have to go w/prior quote

A buyer better be freaking happy I'm paying for a new roof or repairs! If new roof, their insurance won't be what mine was, nor will they be stuck trying to find someone willing to do anything but a full roof replacement like I did. Contractors have become so greedy-only full remodels these days

22 yr old roof with a $10K deductible (I increased it from $5K this year to get the premium down from $3800 to $3100). No one told me that a partially flat roof would be so hard to get repairs. I did pay for repairs shortly after buying, but from what I can tell they took my $$ & didn't do anything

Absolutely agree! I plan to get out for a walk but definitely am going to dress warmer than I did yesterday for errands during the open house. And like you, back to at least the upper 70's by the end of the week.

I am! So this was the precursor to complete rationing, I take it? Even as a very non-tradional woman when I got married in the late 80's, I really wanted to wear a dress that was like nothing I'd ever worn before. It sure looks like she felt that way & her husband is just beaming. Sweet

I'm very driven by thinking about being able to see again. It's been at least 10 yrs. ATM I squint to see at all, but still super blurry. Lots of tests to get thru, but at least I CAN do that in the metro. I can't explain how tired blurry vision makes you-brain interprets it as "tired", weirdly

Open house yesterday-no one came. Realtor office forgot to add the open house to listings but fixed it for today. Also, roof estimate today. Hate that everyone will think I'm greedy fixing the roof & not dropping the $, but insurance isn't covering any of it so I'm out $ for my a down payment.

When I'm dealing with days like you're dealing with, I think back at some really tough times I've gotten through & chant my little matra "It'll work out". And of course give my kitties things to make them happy because seeing them happy really helps.

30° & cloudy right now, with a high of 45° (& dipping to 25° again overnight Sunday). Hoping we get some consistent warmer weather so I can get some hanging flower baskets. I just love getting those.
