Short, but still extremely insightful piece by Simon Schmid (SkillLab) on unnecessary friction in the labor market: Even though interest is stakeholders are aligned, coordination between them is frail. Skills should become the lingua franca of the labor market: www.linkedin.com/pulse/labor-...
I could hardly imagine a better guest than Hans Rusinek for this episode of our newsletter Work/Code. As a
"pracademic" who combines academic research and consulting, Hans has a very practical lense on AI and work but never misses the big questions workcode.substack.com/p/hans-rusin...
GitHub has a systematic approach to enhancing AI skills across the whole company. And their bottom-up approach means that teams decide how they want AI to help them. As a result, GitHub found that nearly every team has benefitted from AI. workcode.substack.com/p/matt-nigh-...
In recent weeks, there have been a lot of new model releases that make creative work much easier. That's why it's great that we have Cindy Richter of Lufthansa to speak to us at Work/Code about how AI changes the work of marketing teams workcode.substack.com/p/cindy-rich...
The next few episodes of our Work/Code newsletter focus on how companies can adapt AI. This is crucial to move beyond the prototype and explorative phase so I am really excited about today's interview with Lufthansa's Cindy Richter: workcode.substack.com/p/cindy-rich...
Our series on AI and the future of work continues with a conversation with Jonas Andrulis, founder of German AI firm Aleph Alpha. Jonas argues that a chatbot connected to your hard drive does not solve business problems. Context is king.

Over the past years, I developed my own habit on writing using the Zettelkasten system. Itâs tedious, sometimes itâs frustrating and hurts. But Derek Thompson is right: if it hurts, it means youâre probably doing something right! open.substack.com/pub/derektho...
It can be hard to make sense of what AI means for work. In our upcoming newsletter, Markus Albers and I speak with leading thinkers to look behind the headlines and uncover the quiet revolution of AI .Want to join us for the ride? Subscribe now and don't miss an episode: lnkd.in/em3KNvyP
Ethan Mollick makes an interesting observation here: As new LLMs are more powerful and more opaque at the same time, how does that change how we work with them? This is what we explore in our newsletter workcode.substack.com. Subscribe now!

Today, the EU will publish its "strategic foresight report" which will discuss artificial general intelligence (AGI). But the Commission should not just focus on "superintelligence", but also "mass intelligence". danielflorian.substack.com/p/we-should-...
But arguably, this is all "there will be dragons" area, so I might be wrong. If you believe in path dependency, however, I believe the political reaction to a user falling in love with a bot is to strengthen consumer protection, not considering to allow a wedding between a person and a bot ...
Sure, animals also can't vote and yet they have rights, but that's because of a powerful human movement that I don't see in the AI space. The Pirate Party which for some time gained traction in Europe is basically extinct and I find it difficult to imagine a party taking on the cause of conscious AI
As you say, consciousness is the basis for many legal rights; I don't see the political process to get there, though: Existing legislation is product regulation, fundamental rights protection (for humans) or consumer protection. And AIs cannot vote, so why should a policy maker give them rights?
Looking forward to the reading, especially because of whatâs to come this fall - stay tuned!
This is really getting out of hands ... It's like raiding Fiat because they put a Fiat motor into their car!
The AI plans of the UK, the EU and the U.S. signal a shift in the AI debate. But who will get an edge in AI-induced growth and what does this mean for AI safety? danielflorian.substack.com/p/i-have-a-p...

One and a half hours of sparring with my new consultant ChatGPT on the potential delay of the entry into force of the EU AI Act. The question itself does not even matter that much but it's interesting to see the chatbot learning about politics with me. If they recall our conversation ....
