Long table set for breakfast in the foreground, window at the end with view to the Jura mountains as the sun rises.
Computer in the foreground (reading article proofs), huge window to the garden in the rain
Beautiful sunset from the Villa terrasse, looking at the lake Léman and the Jura mountains.
I had the immense pleasure of doing a month long writing residency at the Fondation Brocher in Hermance, Switzerland. Met with very interesting colleagues staying there at the same time, and we enjoyed the views and discovered together that writing is always hard, even in a very inspiring place! 🤓 😀

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Relations has recently started paying more attention to this diaspora (including by promoting the aforementioned survey), supporting and developing ties with Brazilian Academic Networks (soft-power). Something to be followed in the general anti-academic global tide.
Brazilian universities and funding institutions went through serious political attacks in the previous government. Surveys among the academic diaspora show that most Brazilian scholars left because of the lack of opportunities (mostly a consequence of the political decisions to cut funding).
These inspiring scientists, work in a diversity of disciplines, mostly basic science, and came to Germany through a variety of schemes: Brazilian scholarships, German grants and direct employment. They represent the impressive skills and knowledge production coming from Brazilian public universities

Make our planet great again, the idiot president said, only for marketing, never in practice… shameful!
